Hear ye, hear ye, near and far. Let it be declared that it is now official. October 24th is hereby Daniel Negreanu Day across the world. Around eight hours ago, he clinched the WSOP Player of the Year award for the second time.

And now? The man known as Kid Poker has won his sixth World Series of Poker bracelet. His reaction was pure Negreanu.

It all happened in France where the WSOP-Europe was entering its final stages. Negreanu was among 13 players who finished play yesterday in the WSOP-E High Roller event. He had a near-average stack this morning. Tonight he finished with all the chips, €725,000, and his sixth WSOP bracelet. His faithful friend and assistant Patty Landis was among the first to congratulate him.

As most folks in the poker world are aware, the 2013 Player of the Year award was Negreanu’s second. The first came in 2004.

Coming into 2013, Negreanu had four WSOP bracelets and hadn’t won one since 2008. That changed when he went to Australia and won the WSOP Main Event there. Today, he notched his sixth after winning the €25,600 High Roller title.

Here’s what Kid Poker’s bracelet resume looks like now.

2003: $2,000 S.H.O.E. ($100,440)
2004: $2,000 Limit Hold’em ($169,100)
2008: $2,000 Limit Hold’em ($204,874)
2013: (Asia): AUD $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em (AUD $1,038,825)
2013: (Europe): €25,600 No-Limit Hold’em (€725,000)

He makes it look easy

Here’s how his friends responded to tonight’s news.

Today he’s a bracelet winner. When the WSOP season is officially over, Negreanu will have a second WSOP Player of the Year title (and probably several others from various outlets). He is not many years away from the Poker Hall of Fame. And someday, there may even be a statue of Kid Poker in a Toronto or Las Vegas park.

But tonight, let’s simply congratulate Daniel Negreanu on another amazing achievement. Love him or hate him, there’s no denying him what’s earned. And that’s just how he likes it.

Congrats, Daniel.
