The river was the A♠ making the board very dangerous for all sorts of hands. Veidhuis checked and after a couple of moments, Alaei checked behind.
“King,” said Veidhuis and Alaei turned over J♠ 10♠ for a rivered straight that he didn’t feel he could get any value from. His luck continued soon after when he knocked out Patrick Bueno on the river with 9♠ 9♣ against J♥ J♣ on a 2♠ 4♥ 8♠ 7♥ 9♥ board.
Team PokerStars Pro William Thorson is also doing well, putting his stack over 100,000 after taking chips from the early leader Andy Bloch. Thorson limped UTG and Bloch made it 2,000 from the button with the Swede making the call. The 4♥ A♠ 9♥ flop was checked by both players before Thorson bet 4,000 on the 4♠ turn which Bloch called. The river 7♣ did not seem to change anything and Thorson bet 12,000 which made Bloch curious enough to call a second time, but then muck when he was shown A♣ 4♣ for a full house.
