EPTDaniel Alaei has been getting a good run of the cards so far today in the high stakes tournament. A runner runner against PokerStars sponsored player Lex Veidhuis managed to scoop him one pot, while he picked up more good luck soon after. Against the Dutchman, Alaei flat-called a 4,425 bet on a KKJ flop while the big blind folded, the turn was the Q and Veidhuis checked to Alaei who bet 4,800, Veidhuis quickly calling.

The river was the A making the board very dangerous for all sorts of hands. Veidhuis checked and after a couple of moments, Alaei checked behind.

“King,” said Veidhuis and Alaei turned over J10 for a rivered straight that he didn’t feel he could get any value from. His luck continued soon after when he knocked out Patrick Bueno on the river with 99 against JJ on a 24879 board.

William Thorson

Team PokerStars Pro William Thorson is also doing well, putting his stack over 100,000 after taking chips from the early leader Andy Bloch. Thorson limped UTG and Bloch made it 2,000 from the button with the Swede making the call. The 4A9 flop was checked by both players before Thorson bet 4,000 on the 4 turn which Bloch called. The river 7 did not seem to change anything and Thorson bet 12,000 which made Bloch curious enough to call a second time, but then muck when he was shown A4 for a full house.
