EPT Grand Final: Enough for de Knijff

If it wasn’t for some early 200AD drainage action by the Romans, Spalding in Lincolnshire, England would be pretty much underwater. And if it wasn’t for the town’s annual Tulip Festival, there would be precious little to talk about in Spalding either. Until today that is – when 31-year-old PokerStars qualifier Alex Beresford knocked WPT Champion Martin de Knijff out of the EPT Grand Final.
Alex Beresford
Alex Beresford was sitting on the AQ of Spades when a short-stacked Martin found his 69 pairing up on the flop. But it also gave Alex a flush draw. The turn helped no one but 2s on the river meant flowers all round for “blazing44”. Alex bet a meagre 1,000, Martin raised all-in for an additional 4,000 and found himself called. Alex is now sitting pretty on around 20,000 in chips.
