While the EPT Main Event continues into Day 2 at the Hilton Metropole, down the road at the Vic the £500 NLH Ladies event is now underway.

There are 52 women in the mix fighting it out for the £25,220 prize-pool. Last year’s winner Anais Lerouge walked away with the top prize of £11,050.

Members of Team Pokerstars Pro joining the field today are Liv Boeree, Victoria Coren and Vanessa Selbst. It is a truly international affair as there are a host of players who have made their way to London from Canada, Mexico, Sweden, Croatia, USA, France and Belgium.

Among them is Friend of Pokerstars Charlotte van Brabander, from Belgium, who made the final table in Madrid. The pro-gamer is sitting on table nine, to the right of Liv Boeree and surrounded by some well-known names on the circuit such as double Ladies Champion (2007 & 2008) Lynne Beaumont and Irish Open Ladies Champion 2010 Claire Renault.

There are also a group of online qualifiers hoping to get their hands on the trophy. Among them is Brit Eleanor Gudger who has been playing since 2008 and regularly plays the festivals around the UK, from the Fox Club in London to Nottingham’s Dusk till Dawn. Also one to watch is serial qualifier Xuan Liu, who won two packages to this event as well as a main event ticket. With a third place finish in the 2010 EPT San Remo main event, worth €360,000, Liu is definitely a contender today.

After a tentative first level, and the arrival of a few late registrations, early chip leaders are Lisa Edwards, Sara Shalabi and Deborah Worley-Roberts.

Today’s tournament is a one-day affair with an 8,000 starting stack and 40 minutes levels.
