Max Silver leads the €10,000 High Roller

It’s no exaggeration to say that Malta has made a sparkling début on the EPT. Off the felt players have loved the ‘fair’ price of hotels, food, drink and the, mostly, decent weather. Meanwhile, on the felt the festival was kick started by the IPT Malta Main Event, which attracted some 1,285 runners. At the same time, at the other end of the price spectrum, the Special Added €25,000 High Roller lived up to its billing, attracting 88 runners (68 uniques, 20 re-entries), none of whom could stop Dzmitry Urbanovich from completing the first leg of a remarkable hat-trick.

To the list of success stories at the poker felt this week you can now add the €10,000 High Roller. By the time the players had completed six levels and trudged off for a well earned dinner break a total of 241 players had entered the fray, including 30 who’d taken up the option of their single re-entry already. To put that in perspective it’s not far off surpassing the numbers who turned up for the identical event at the established stop of Prague (233 uniques and 76 re-entries).

Fairing best of all when level seven gets under way will be Max Silver. The 24-year-old is no stranger to chip leads, indeed he’s already held one in Malta this week. His chip leading stack of 166,000 gives him the narrowest of leads. Other stacks of note, either by virtue of their size or the reputation of the player behind them, include:

Kristoffer Edberg – 165,000
Nathaniel Falber – 151,000
Daniel Ghionoiu – 149,300
Puk Nabuurs – 145,000
Francisco Benitez – 138,000
Andras Nemeth – 134,000
Simon Boss – 133,000
Fabian Quoss – 132,000
Patrick Leonard – 130,000

Ivan Luca – 108,000
Philipp Gruissem – 92,000
Toby Lewis – 83,000
Adrian Mateos – 82,000
Dominik Nitsche – 78,000
Marvin Rettenmaier – 77,000
Jorryt van Hoof – 74,000
Salman Behbehani – 65,000
Benny Spindler – 62,000
Timothy Adams – 61,000
Pratyush Buddiga – 59,000
Davidi Kitai – 58,000

Martin Finger – 38,000
Eugnene Katchalov – 37,000
Sorel Mizzi – 32,400

It’s been a good second bullet for Boss who’s ran his second stack of 50,000 all the way up to 133,000. Others on their second bullet include: Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree, Bryn Kenney, Craig McCorkell, Dario Sammartino, Ihar Soika and Ole Schemion. Whilst Joao Vieria, Remi Castaignon, Iliodoros Kamatakis, Anton Bertilsson and Tom-Aksel Bedell are out but still have the option of having another go should they wish to.

Two bullet Boeree

You suspect they’ll be plenty more re-buys before Day one ends, the high rollers have four more levels to go before they can reach Day 2, meaning play will end around 00.30 CET. We’ll bring you a further update then.
