A couple more silver spades were claimed late last night in side events at the European Poker Tour Barcelona festival, with the winners of both surviving tough final tables to earn the hardware.

The €5K 8-game (Event #13) had our attention throughout the day yesterday, thanks to a 29-player field populated by many of poker’s best.

The top five split the €140,650 prize pool, with China’s Zhao Wei ultimately prevailing after besting Marcelo Costa of Brazil heads-up. Wei earned €52,040 for the win.

Team PokerStars Pro Theo Jorgensen lasted into the money in this one. The Great Dane earned €13,360 for finishing fifth.

Yesterday’s final event was another €1K NLHE Hyperturbo (Event #15), this one drawing 220 players to create a handsome prize pool of €213,400. The top 31 finishers divided up those riches, with Italy’s Roberto Morra ultimately coming out on top to win the €45,140 first prize and a silver spade.

It was Morra’s first big tournament win, his previous largest cash having come in after final tabling €1K event at EPT11 Malta where he finished fifth.

Also at the Event #15 final table were EPT9 Deauville Main Event sixth-place finisher Joseph El Khoury (who finished third), WPT Copenhagen winner Emil Ohlsson (who took fifth), and LAPT Chile champ Mario Lopez (ousted in eighth). For ongoing updates on all EPT Barcelona events, be sure to bookmark the side events results page.

Morra, Ohlssen, and Lopez are each among many seated for the first levels of Day 1C of the Estrellas Barcelona Main Event, which already has nearly 1,500 registered. There were 1,714 playing the first two Day 1 flights, meaning a total turnout of more than 3,200 so far (as some were predicting).
