Abbas Moradi – chip leader
Today was the day where things really started to roll in the Main Event. The day things moved up a notch. The day the bubble burst and significant stacks began to emerge.

The player who built the highest today was Abbas Moradi, from Canada, who bagged an end of day 1,384,000. He’s already had one big result in Prague in December, finishing third in a €1,000 event across town, worth €16,963. That’ll seem like pocket change should he go on to win here.

He’s being chased by some quality players, Preben Stokkan (1,175,000) is his closest challenger, whilst Vlado Banicevic (1,096,000), Samuel Vousden (1,010,000) and Hossein Ensan (1,120,000) all have seven-figure stacks and did their chances of a deep run in this tournament the world of good during today’s five levels. If Ensan should go on to make the final table it will be his third EPT Main Event final table in the past 16 months.

Demidov – still in, but short
Of course poker is a zero sum game and someone had to be the last person to leave with zero. We returned today with 218 players of whom 151 would cash for at least €8,910. The respective talents of Chris Moneymaker, Mickey Petersen, James Akenhead, Jean Montury, David Vamplew, Fabrice Soulier, Christian Jeppsson, Fabio Sperling, Osman Mustanoglu, Alex Bilokur, Morten Mortensen, Roberto Romanello, Konstantin Puchkov and Rainer Kempe all fell before the bubble.

The Welshman missed out today
The unwanted role of bubble boy fell to Jesus Muriel Gracia and, as Brad Willis reported, Garcia had nowhere to hide as his demise took place under the bright lights of #EPTLive on the TV table. Forced all-in in the big blind he’d have hoped to look down at better cards than 3â™  2♦ he at least had live cards against the A♣ 10♣ of Anton Sulymka but when the Ukrainian flopped a ten he knew the jig was up.

Among the familiar faces to make the money, but to go no further, are the following: Vitaly Lunkin (150th), Dara O’Kearney (148th), Rainer Kempe (144th), Anton Wigg (133rd), Jorma Nuutinen (126th), Jannick Wrang (125th), Johnny Lodden (117th), Juha Helppi (114th), Joseph El Khoury (108th), Ollie Price (97th), Ivan Soshnikov (89th), Jude Ainsworth (84th), Elena Stover (82nd), Adrian Mateos (81st), Sam Greenwood (80th), Bryan Paris (79th), Ruben Visser (77th) and Matthias De Meulder (74th).

Another cash for Lodden then, his 22nd in EPT Main Events.
