Home / Uncategorized / EPT9 Berlin Day 1B: The ever increasing EPT who’s who list

There is nothing so reliable on PokerStars Blog as the “Who’s who” post on Day 1. It’s phone (check!), wallet (check!), media badge (check!) when we leave the hotel in the morning, then it’s intro post (check!), who’s who post (check!), first cup of coffee (check!) when we get to the press room.

Thing is, these who’s who posts are getting to be increasingly arduous to write these days. There are so many notable players who show up for EPT main events now that every table is practically a who’s who of the game. In the earliest seasons, the entry credentials for our list of notables was so low that a one-time appearance on a TV poker show would permit you a gold wristband and entry to the VIP section. These days, we’re left looking at some WSOP bracelet winners or former EPT champions and thinking, “Is he really notable enough?”

Day 1B at EPT Berlin, which is approaching the end of its first level, is already evidently a knockout. Here are a few of the entrants to the “notable names” club, and there are plenty still standing outside the door, with a bouncer frowning at their trainers.

Olivier Busquet, Chris Moorman, Benny Spindler, George Danzer, Pratyush Buddiga, Salvatore Bonavena, Rino Mathis, Ludovic Lacay, Martin Staszko, Pius Heinz, John Eames, Sebastian Ruthenberg, Jeff Hakim, Ilya Gorodetskiy, Michel Abecassis, Davidi Kitai, Mickey Petersen, Sorel Mizzi, Juha Helppi, Pieter De Korver, Steven Silverman, Dario Minieri, Toby Lewis, Toni Judet, Jason Lavallee, Sam Grafton, Chris Brammer, Richard Toth, Eugene Katchalov, Anton Wigg, Kevin MacPhee, Vanessa Selbst, Mike McDonald, Ivan Demidov, Faraz Jaka, Martin Finger, Sergei Baranov, Theo Jorgensen, Matt Kay, Martin Hruby.

Sebastian Ruthenberg: There’s one!

The idea is to play eight levels and bag up a bunch to bring back tomorrow.

Don’t forget the way to follow our main event coverage. There’s hand-by-hand stuff, including chip counts, in the panel at the top of the main EPT Berlin page. There will be feature pieces below that panel, including updates from the side events. EPT Live will begin at around 4pm local time. And everything to do with the European Poker Tour is on the European Poker Tour site.
