Home / Uncategorized / EPT9 London Day 2: Tom Dwan ponders the first big question of the day

At some point you have to put embarrassment aside and ask for help. So thought Tom Dwan.

“Do you have any idea where my stack is?”

Dwan was pacing the tournament room, weaving between tables looking for his stack. He asked anyone who was stationary, and who would listen, but nobody had the faintest idea. Instead he was directed to the seat draw on a printed sheet by the door.
Dwan eventually found the list and looked through it. It looked strange. Poker superheroes surely have no need for crumpled photocopied documents with staples in the top. Dwan seemed to realise this and put it down again.

It’s out there somewhere…

Instead, a resigned Dwan sat next to the video roulette machine and played with his phone. Soon a middle-aged woman sat next to him, sipping a drink through a straw. Maybe she had also given up, in various other ways.

Eventually tournament director Toby Stone appeared to guide Dwan to his seat which was tucked away in the far corner of the tournament room, the same corner in which Dwan had finished 12th in this event all the way back in Season 2.

Found it…

Dwan sat down with a slight grin on his face, which looked flushed with the tide of embarrassment. It then became clear why this stack had been so hard to find. It was made up of just four chips, two blue ones (worth 100) and two black ones (worth 5,000), the exact same colours as the table they were resting on.

NOTE: Dwan is now out.
