EPT9 Prague: Kayvan Payman wins Event #5 (€2k PLO) for €36,475

December 10, 2012

Kayvan Payman isn’t the kind of name you forget. You might not be able to place it too easily; American football player? Actor? Founder of new-wave yoga practice? No, he’s the poker player that final tabled EPT7 London, the year David Vamplew beat John Juanda heads-up for the title.

Payman performed well there finishing fifth for £190,000 in the big money, but just outside the really big money: it was £900,000 for first. The heads-up chop is Payman’s first live result in two years… since he won an EPT Prague €1,000 side event for €23,700. You know what, Kayvan, perhaps you should keep playing these PLO side events.

It was certainly no waltz to the win with tough PLO competitors Team PokerStars Pro Johnny Lodden, former EPT Omaha Player of the Year Dario Alioto, and dual Finns Pasi Heinanen and Kalle Niemi all making the money. If Niemi’s name rings a bell it’s because he finished runner-up to Constant Rijkenberg for €862,000.
