2am: Play concludes
Play has ended for Day 1B. Around 100 players made it through the day and of those who survive Carlos Calahorra is top of the lot with 116,400. That is also good for the overall lead coming into tomorrow.
Until 4pm tomorrow it’s good night from PokerStars Estrellas Ibiza. Chip counts and a wrap of the day’s play will be up shortly.
1.42am: Pause the clock
The clock was paused with 13 minutes remaining of the level and every dealer was instructed to play five more hands before play ends for the day.
1.35am: Richard can’t control the law
I feel like I just bokked Richard Lawlor. He was telling us how his day had been a grind but that he was still happy to have 22,000 as there wasn’t much more he could do. I reassured him that his run would come good through the last of today’s play or tomorrow.
Five minutes later he’s heading out of the door! He three-bet with ace-king and called off the rest after his opponent four-bet jammed 35 big blinds (effectively) with ace-ten. A ten fell on the turn and that was all she wrote.

12.55am: Table 10 stalwarts do battle
Raschke Tillmann and Matthias De Meulder have been sat at table 10 all day together and I’m sure they’ve worked out each others games a little. The two just engaged in a pre-flop raising war and it was the German who got the better this time.
He raised to 850 from mid position before the Team PokerStars Pro three-bet to 2,175 from the button. The action folded back to Tillmann and he four-bet to 4,650. De Meulder counted his stack (26k) before clicking it back to 7,200. Instantly Tillmann went all-in and his opponent conceded defeat and folded.
De Meulder smiled and said, “Couldn’t keep myself from trying.”
12.45am: Prizepool information
The official prizepool information has been released by the tournament directors and the winner in for a healthy payday. He or she will receive a massive €92,100. A total of 50 players will earn something for their endeavours this week. A min-cash will earn you €1,490 and if you make the final table you are guaranteed €10,050. A full breakdown of the payouts will be available for viewing in due course via a dedicated payout page.
12.30am: Double for De Meulder
Team PokerStars Pro Matthias De Meulder has some breathing space now after he doubled to around 20,000 up in a battle-of-the-blinds.
The action folded to him in the big blind and he raised to 1,000. Szabo Renato was in the big blind and put in a three-bet to 2,100. It didn’t take long for the Belgian to move all-in for 9,475. At this juncture one could forgive Renato for calling light as De Meulder had been pushing a lot and had increased his stack from 6,800 to the current position in less than two orbits. As it turned out he had a good hand and an easy decision to call.

The board ran 8♦ J♦ 6♠ 6♣ 3♠ to safely see De Meulder through.
12.05am: Welcome to the table
Marius Campan was at table 15 and was just moved to table three after it broke, and straight away got involved in a 50,000 chip pot with Jose Angel Latorre. It ended in a split pot but what we saw made for interesting viewing.
Around 30,000 had made it into the middle by the turn where the board read 6♠ 7♥ 7♠ 6♥ . Latorre was in position and in the cut-off and he had an 11,000 bet laid out in front of him. Campan only has 22,000 behind so his decision was effectively for his stack. He elected to just call to see the J♦ river where he checked and Latorre checked behind with a defeatist limp wrist.
Campan said he had ace-high and tabled A♠ Q♠ . Latorre let out a gasp as he thought he had lost the hand with A♥ 3♥ but it was, in fact, a split pot. Another player at the table looked the Romanian and said, “Welcome to the table!”

11.45pm: One more time, break down
The last break of the day is upon us. All the remaining players will reconvene for the last two levels of the day in ten minutes.
11.35pm: Joao finds the Silva
Joao Silva is up to about 30,000 chips after he cracked an over-pair.
He raised to 800 from early position and the action folded all the way around to Robert Thompson in the big blind who three-bet to 1,675. Silva thought through his options and moved all-in for 13,500. Call.

The board ran 6♠ 7♣ 5♠ 8♦ 9♥ to make him a lucky straight.
11.25pm: No lucky sevens for Margets
Before we went for dinner we were very happy to see Leo Margets move to a table in front of us (because we like her card skills, you understand). We weren’t so happy to return and found her eliminated.
She got the last of her chips in pre-flop with 7♠ 7♣ but ran into an opponent holding K♦ K♠ . The board ran out J♥ 6♠ J♣ 9♣ 3♠ . We will find out who dared do this to her.
11.10pm: Tomeu gunned down
Tomeu Gomila lost half his stack and before his group went for dinner, he lost the other half of his stack.
He raised with ace-queen and was called in two spots before Gonzalo Martin three-bet to 4,000. Gomilla responded by moving all-in for 14,000. The other two players folded but Martin called with a dominating ace-king. The board ran blank and the talented Spaniard departed.
11pm: Back in the game
Tables one to seven are now playing through level seven.
10.20pm: Dinner break for the media
The split dinner break caused a little problem fro us on media row as there was no break in play. We’re off for a munch and have some Spanish colleagues watching the action for us. If we miss anything big, then they will fill us in upon our return.
10.15pm: Back to WCOOP for el cañonero
PokerStars Team Online Javier “el cañonero” Domínguez took a day off the WCOOP grind to play this today but he can get back to that now after busting.
We only have vague details but we know he got the last of his chips in pre-flop with J♠ J♥ and was called by an opponent holding A♥ 9♥ . The board ran Q♠ 7♥ A♣ 4♣ K♠ to see his opponent hit a three-outer.
10.05pm: Gomila has to start over
Tomeu Gomila was cruising with more than double his starting stack, but now he’s down to around 14,000 after he doubled-up Jose Moreno.
We picked up the action on the turn where Gomila bet 3,200. Moreno called to see the river where the board read 6♣ 3♠ 6♥ 9♥ K♣ . Gomila continued the aggressive line and led for 6,500 and reluctantly called when Moreno moved all-in for 13,500. Moreno tabled A♣ 6♠ and Gomila mucked.

9.32pm: Break it up
Tables 1-7 have gone on a 70-minute dinner break, and the remaining tables have gone on a ten-minute break.
9.20pm: Oscar blanco
If Oscar Serradell was hungry then that’s the only way he can be happy about busting as he can bat the queue.
There were two open limps before Carlos de Marcos raised to 1,050. Serradell was in the next seat and three-bet to 2,000 before David Nascimento put in four-bet to 4,000. De Marcos folded but Serradell moved all-in. Call.
Serradell tabled jacks and was racing Nascimento’s ace-queen. An ace on the flop did all the damage for the Spaniard.
9.05pm: Brit watch
It’s no secret that for decades the British have loved coming to Spain for their summer holidays. It comes as no surprise then that we have a few in attendance this week.
Simon Zaki is the latest player to come on our radar and he’s going well on 19,000. Neil Rawnsley is a serial qualifier for PokerStars’ events and he’s going steady on around 17,000. The chatty Alex Ferguson is doing the best of the lot on 25,000. If he’s not talking to table mates, he’s talking to someone on the rail. His game is as active as his mouth as well and he was overheard telling his table earlier that he must have a VPIP percentage of around 35%. It’s working well for him so far.
8.45pm: Split dinner break
The poor chaps in the restaurant next door were unable to cope with 200 demanding poker players descending on them all-at-once yesterday. To solve this the remaining field will be split in half for dinner breaks. Half of the field will go on a 70-miute break at the end of this level while thew other half will play level six. The two halves will then swap round before all the players combine once more to play the last two levels of the night.
8.25pm: New life in a new level
Just before the break Team PokerStars Pro Juan Manuel Pastor doubled-up to to 17,500 to breath new life into him for the second half of the day.
Petter Brunell raised to 525 and Pastor and a player in the big blind called on the way to a A♠ 8♦ 6♠ flop. Brunell continued for 900 and only Pastor called. The turn came 6♦ and Pastor called the second barrel for 2,400.
The river came 4♦ and and Brunell set the Spaniard all-in for his last 4,500. Call. The Finn tabled A♣ K♣ but Pastor had got there with 5♠ 7♠ for a straight.
