You don’t have to be in the presence of Team PokerStars Pro Dag Palovic to notice that he stands out at the poker table (even when sitting) for a couple of reasons. Firstly he’s usually the only one smiling! The Slovakian has a perma-grin etched on his face, even when folding to a big river bet or giving up the pot in a more mundane manner.
Secondly it’s the way he stacks his chips, he doesn’t have dirty stacks or hide his big chips at the back, no the thing that makes Palovic’s way of stacking differently is that he stacks in fives!
Most players opt for the space saving yet still easy to count stacks of 20, others prefer stacks of 10 but Palovic refuses to buckle and goes his own way. And he’s been busy stacking, unstacking and re-stacking his chips today as he’s been up and down like the proverbial yo-yo. This has all played out on twitter as he’s been updating his fans all day. The highlights are:
But we are already in Level 5 … And I have 29.775 chips ;)))I just cracked the Aces with 6d8d … Even I was gambling a lot in that hand

86.425 after Level 7 😉 magic man on rollecoaster 😉
— Dag Palovic (@dagpalovic) May 27, 2013
That doesn’t tell the full tale though his full chip roller coaster looks like this: 20,000, 14,000, 29,775, 58,000, 22,000 and then 86,425. But, since that tweet he’s dropped to 52,000 before bouncing back up to 62,000.
However, 140 characters doesn’t do justice to the hand that kept him in the tournament a level of so ago. Palovic himself explained what happened to me. “I got ten-nine suited in pre-flop against pocket jacks and won, he had me covered too. I flopped a nine, turned a flush draw and rivered another nine in a 50k pot.”
Easy game.
Tournament Update: There will be no repeat Eureka Poker Tour winner here in Dubrovnik as Bart Lybaert has been eliminated. Other notable eliminations during level eight include Team PokerStars Pro Johnny Lodden and Dani Bevac. The chip leader appears to be Zeljka Kvastek, the Croatian PokerStars qualifier has around 95,000.
As the blinds rise the numbers continue to dwindle, just 83 of 173 runners who started today remain and the average stack is now 41,700. We’re not far off the last level of the night where blinds will be 400 – 800 ante 100.
The pot-limit Omaha tournament has reached the bubble as six players remain, PokerStars Team Online’s Dale Philip is still in although he’s the shortest stack.
Should he bust that he could hop in the other side event that’s running, a €200 no-limit hold’em win the button event.
