The penultimate day of the Eureka5 Rozvadov Main Event played out today over the course of eight one-hour levels, and by the close, just seven players remained from the 28 that started the day.
Ruben Pleijster rose to the top of the pile and heads into the final day with 3,430,000. Here’s how they’ll come back tomorrow:
Seat, Name, Country, – Chips
1. Marek Blasko, Slovakia – 1,805,000
2. Ruben Pleijster, Netherlands – 3,430,000
3. Rastislav Paleta, Czech Republic – 1,655,000
4. Josef Gulas, Czech Republic – 2,805,000
5. Josef Pavelka, Czech Republic – 2,490,000
6. Branislav Ondrus, Slovakia – 1,485,000
7. Raphel Wimmer, Germany – 2,835,000
Pleijster leapt to the top of the counts midway through the day and was never in danger from that point on. He took a couple of hits once the tournament was a one-table affair but recovered to maintain his lead overnight.
It was almost a very different day for the Dutchman though as he came though an early all in holding pocket threes versus an opponent’s pocket fives. One has to get lucky to win tournaments though, it’s all about making the most of any luck that occurs.
All the players are fairly tightly bunched, and with 23 big blind average coming back tomorrow, play promises to be exciting.
The unofficial final table had nine members and it wasn’t long before it became official after the departure of Remigiusz Wyrzykiewicz. The Polish player had played a very patient game to get to the last table and was unlucky to run pocket nines into Branislav Ondrus’ pocket kings in a button versus big blind set up.
The final eight paused for pictures and then got right back into the action, to finish off the eight allotted levels or down to six players. Eight soon became seven with the departure Hossein Ensan in eighth place. He moved all in with pocket nines but failed to stay ahead of Marek Blasko’s big-slick. No more players hit the rail before level 28 came to an end.
Cards will be in the air at 2pm but as there’s a German language cards-up live stream, all coverage will be subject to a one-hour delay. So, to watch the webcast on Pokerstars.tv or follow the blog, join us back here from 3pm CET.
