Home / Uncategorized / Eureka5 Rozvadov: German domination over. Maybe

The Germans are a pesky lot. Don’t get me wrong, they’re a truly lovely nation of people, it’s just that some of the time it’d be nice it they let someone else win. Football, poker, you name it they’re always there near the end.

Most things run in cycles though, right? Surely the German domination in poker can’t continue as it has for the last few years. A new nation might emerge to dominate; maybe it’s the “Year of Romania” as Joe Stapleton’s been saying for a good while on EPT Live.

Heinz is still a World champ at least

Two German’s who have helped their great nation to dominate are Pius Heinz and Gerorge Danzer.

Heinz is a former WSOP Main Event champion and Danzer is the current WSOP player of the year. Both would’ve been categorised favourites to do well today but both have recently been eliminated.

Heinz was the first to go. He was crippled after his ace-jack suited lost out to an opponent’s ace-five suited, all the chips going in pre flop.

He got his last 2.5 big blinds in with JJ and was called by Maurice Emanuel Schepp holding 77. The board ran 228Q7 to seal his fate on the river.

Danzer bluffed off his short stack a while later.

Danzer will be hopping into Day1C (Turbo)

He was in the big blind and called a 1,200 raise from Fabian Guzzo to see a 746 flop appear. Both players checked to the 6 turn where Danzer moved all in for his last 3,200 with 108 for a multi-way draw.
Guzzo called with AJ and survived the 6 river.

The rate of eliminations had been slow up until the dinner breaks but they’ve been flying out of the door since. Some of those who might try they luck in the upcoming Day 1C include: Manuel Fischer, Daniel Melten, Maksym Lavrov, Marcus Voss, Christian Groß, Levi Asaf, Ivo Donev, Anna Katharina Hauck, Gregor Abmayr, Artur Koenov, Makarios Avramidis, Dzmitry Urbanovich, Robert Saffran, Tim Louis Heun, Paul Ciaca, Miroslav Smejkal, Henry Szmelcer, Daniel Peche and heavyweights Christophe De Meulder, Heinz Kamutzik, Tobias Peters and defending champion Martin Mečiar.

Globetrotter Peters

Peters took a couple of months off work at the beginning of this year and has been on a worldwide poker tour that has seen him stop off at the Aussie Millions in Melbourne and EPT Deauville before he headed here. He didn’t have a result down under but cashed twice in Deauville for more than 35k.
