Between the poker tournaments, the social events, and people traveling from all over the world to join up with the rest of Lex’s Twitch community, there are lots of stories to catch up on.

FROM 50 STARSCOINS TO A PLATINUM PASS

Simon Gilles: From home-made poker tables to the PSPC

Here’s one you need to read to believe.

“I had exactly zero euro in my PokerStars account, but I was bored and looked to see what I could play with my StarsCoins,” said Simon Gilles.

The 31-year-old supermarket marketing manager from Germany, a dedicated micro-stakes player since 2007, decided to exchange his coins for a $2 Mega Path Sit & Go ticket. What happened next is the stuff poker dreams are made of.

U.K. PLAYERS: GET YOURSELF A PLATINUM PASS!

A Platinum Pass awaits you…

There’s no hotter commodity in poker right now than a Platinum Pass. So it’s good news that there are two new ways for U.K. players to book passage to Barcelona next summer.

Satellites to Chris Moneymaker’s Road to PSPC events in the UK are now running online. Feeders to the main satellite start at £1.10, while the main satellite itself is £11. Once you have your ticket, you can choose which stop you want to play — London Hippodrome from October 24 to 27, Aspers Casino Newcastle from October 28 to November 3, or Aspers Casino London + Milton Keynes from November 4 to 10.

Here are look at the satellites running this weekend:

There’s also the Platinum Pass Experience UK, an online promotion that allows you to play for a Platinum Pass in a live setting. For only £5.50 you can play one of eight online tournaments. The winner of each will play it out for a Platinum Pass on the 11th November at Aspers Casino.

This weekend’s Platinum Pass Experience UK satellites run at 20:05 BST on October 5 and October 6.

EPT OPEN SOCHI BEGINS

It’s EPT Open time once again in Sochi

The European Poker Tour (EPT) is back in action for the second time this season. This time it’s taking over Sochi Casino in Russia for the EPT Open Sochi. The EPT Open debuted here last year, providing the top-shelf live poker experience of the European Poker Tour standards while allowing wider accessibility through reduced tournament buy-ins.

The highlight of this year’s schedule is the Moneymaker Road to PSPC event. With a buy-in of RUB 10,500 (just under €150), the tournament runs October 11-13, and the eventual champion will claim the Pass in addition to the first-place prize. Valued at more than €26,000, the Platinum Pass includes a €22,500 entry fee as well as hotel accommodation, transport, and various expenses.

Check out the full EPT Open Sochi schedule here.
