This week’s Super Tuesday, PokerStars’ weekly $1,050 no-limit hold’em tournament, drew a big turnout of 640 entrants, the largest field for the event since early April. That group together created a prize pool of $640,000 — well over the $400K guarantee — and after 10 hours and 40 minutes it was GeoManousos of Austria emerging victorious to claim a big first prize of $120,960, with dynamoM of Russia taking runner-up and Dani “supernova9” Stern playing from Mexico to finish third.

By the time the six-hour break arrived that big field had been whittled all of the way down to 73 players — just one shy of the cash — with hand-for-hand play having begun some time before and Swierie420, csitar, and Ch33s3z0r sitting atop the leaderboard.

They’d play a few hands more before serip973 would be all in and at risk for just under nine big blinds with A♥ Kâ™  versus Faborizer’s J♥ Jâ™  . The board rolled out ten-high, and serip973 was the unfortunate 73rd-place finisher to land one spot outside the money.

By the time they’d crossed the tournament’s seven-and-a-half-hour mark, just 18 were left with Leanod the new chip leader, csitar still near the top in third, Ch33s3z0r near the bottom of the counts among those left, and Swierie420 having just been knocked out in 21st ($3,840).

It would take about an hour more for nine more to fall. bulkir (18th), Paul “paulgees81” Volpe (17th), and Ce$ar$pa (16th) each earned $5,120 for their finishes. KatePkrPro (15th), é_memiu (14th), and baeks22 (13th) followed them to the rail, taking away $6,400 apiece. And Patrick “PSCPRODIGY” Crivelli (12th), Marvelousss (11th), and stone_s_g (10th) were next to go, with each picking up $7,680 for their efforts.

With EzPaTuLa the new chip leader and several contenders close in the counts, the final table was underway.

Seat 1: lehout (Netherlands) — 471,215
Seat 2: Ch33s3z0r (Russia) — 452,994
Seat 3: Dani “supernova9” Stern (Mexico) — 396,468
Seat 4: GeoManousos (Austria) — 241,151
Seat 5: EzPaTuLa (United Kingdom) — 525,391
Seat 6: csitar (Colombia) — 504,189
Seat 7: dynamoM (Russia) — 88,840
Seat 8: Leanod (Belarus) — 301,113
Seat 9: oldchilli (Canada) — 218,639

It would take more than an hour for the first final table elimination to come, during which period Dani “supernova9” Stern nudged out in front as the chip leader.

The blinds were 5,000/10,000 when lehout opened for 20,299 from the hijack seat, then Stern three-bet to 52,000 from the button. It folded back to lehout who reraise-shoved for 185,602 total, and Stern called.

supernova9 had A♣ K♣ and the preflop edge against lehout’s Aâ™  Qâ™  , but the J♣ 4♦ Q♣ flop paired lehout’s kicker. The A♥ turn card was safe for lehout, but fifth street brought the 8♣ to complete a flush for Stern and knock lehout out in ninth.

Just a few minutes later they were in the same level when csitar open-raised all in from middle position for 117,269 (a little less than 12 big blinds), then dynamoM reraised all in from a seat over and everyone else stepped aside.

csitar had 6♣ 6♥ but had run into dynamoM’s K♥ Kâ™  , and five cards later — Jâ™  7♦ 7♥ 8♣ 4♥ — csitar was eliminated in eighth.

Just a few more hands passed, then with the blinds up to 6,000/12,000 it was Leanod raising to 24,480 from the button, then Ch33s3z0r three-bet to 51,225 from the big blind. Leanod responded with a shove for 237,187 total and Ch33s3z0r called.

Leanod had A♥ 8â™  and was in dire straits versus Ch33s3z0r’s A♦ A♣ . The board rolled out 5♦ 7♣ 7♥ J♣ 2♥ and Leanod’s run ended in seventh.

They’d just crossed the 10-hour mark when the next knockout occurred. With the blinds 7,000/14,000, dynamoM open-raised all in from the small blind and a super-short oldchilli called all in with the 11,440 left after posting the big blind. dynamoM had A♦ 4♣ and oldchilli 10♦ 5â™  , and after the 8♦ 9♥ Q♦ 8♥ A♥ runout oldchilli was done in sixth.

Dani “supernova9” Stern continued to lead with five players left, building his stack up over 1.3 million. Then a hand arose that saw EzPaTuLa make a 2x raise to 28,000 from under the gun, then GeoManousos reraised to 72,880 from the big blind. EzPaTuLa four-bet all in for 340,816 and GeoManousos made the call.

It was a race as EzPaTuLa had A♣ K♥ and GeoManousos Qâ™  Q♥ . The K♣ 7♥ 4♥ flop paired EzPaTuLa’s king, and after the 10♦ turn EzPaTuLa was one card away from a double-up. But the river brought the Q♣ to give GeoManousos a set and knock EzPaTuLa out in fifth.

Ch33s3z0r would be the next to go in fourth place in a hand that began with GeoManousos making a just-over-2x raise to 32,023 from the button then watching Ch33s3z0r call from the big blind. The flop dame 9♠ K♥ 7♦ . Ch33s3z0r checked, GeoManousos bet 34,285, and Ch33s3z0r called. The turn then brought the J♦ and another check from Ch33s3z0r. This time GeoManousos bet 78,766, and Ch33s3z0r called once more.

The river was the 9♣ and Ch33s3z0r checked one last time. GeoManousos took that opening to push all in, and Ch33s3z0r called with the 153,066 left behind. GeoManousos turned over A♣ K♦ for kings and nines with an ace kicker, just a bit better than Ch33s3z0r’s K♣ 8♣ for the same two pair with a lesser kicker, and Ch33s3z0r was ousted in fourth.

That hand carried GeoManousos up over 1.2 million to challenge Dani “supernova9” Stern for the lead, and soon GeoManousos would edge ahead into first position. Then in a hand that began with dynamoM min-raising to 32,000 from the button, Stern reraised to 88,000 from the small blind, GeoManousos four-bet to 192,570, dynamoM folded, Stern shoved all in for 1,279,371, and GeoManousos called.

supernova9: A♠ Q♣
GeoManousos: K♣ K♦

The board ran out J♥ 4♦ 6♥ , then 9♥ , then 5♠ , and Stern was sent railward in third.

That big pot gave GeoManousos a huge, nearly 7-to-1 chip advantage to start heads-up play with 2,793,520 to dynamoM’s 406,480.

The pair played nine small hands, then on the 10th hand dynamoM limped in from the button and GeoManousos checked behind. The flop came 3♦ 7♦ J♥ . GeoManousos checked, dynamoM bet 16,000, GeoManousos made it 39,500 to go, dynamoM pushed all in for 246,480 total, and GeoManousos called.

dynamoM had J♦ 10♣ for top pair, but GeoManousos had top two pair with Jâ™  7♣ . The turn was the 9♥ , giving dynamoM some extra straight outs, but the river was the 5â™  and it was all over — GeoManousos had won.

Congratulations to GeoManousos for overcoming a huge Super Tuesday field and a tough final table to win this week’s Super Tuesday and a handsome $120,960.00 — one of the bigger first prizes ever won in the tournament.
