Learn more about Twitch streamer Mason “pyefacepoker” Pye and find out how you can join his Home Games club and play community games with exclusive prizes.
When you first start playing poker it’s difficult not to fall in love with the game. Either it goes well and you’re inspired to keep playing, or it doesn’t and you’re motivated to improve.
For Mason “pyefacepoker” Pye, it was a smidge of beginner’s luck that got him enamoured. While studying Computer Science at the University of Exeter, he won his first ever live tournament–a £30 student event–and it was that result that got the ball rolling.
Yep. Even the leader of the Mixed Games Movement kicked off his poker journey by playing no limit hold’em. In Pye’s Home Games club, you can play no limit hold’em tournaments against other members of his Twitch community, with exclusive prizes up for grabs.
After graduating in 2019, Pye decided to pursue his passion for poker, but not by following the traditional route that most players go down. He turned his focus away from no limit hold’em, the Cadillac of poker according to Doyle Brunson, and instead set out to master poker’s mixed games. Now he rarely plays no limit hold’em outside of a big online series.
Pye founded the Mixed Games Movement when he started streaming his play on Twitch as a way to encourage both experienced and brand new poker players alike to broaden their horizons and try new poker variants.
“Mixed games are just so much fun,” he says. “The games are fantastic. You’re always in the mix. You’ve always got to be focused.”
If anything’s going to inspire you to try out mixed games, it’s seeing how big a blast Pye has while playing on his steam, and the enthusiasm his community has for poker’s lesser-known variants.
He won his first Spring Championship of Online Poker event in 2019, winning a $109 buy-in Stud event for $6,729 and his maiden major title. He came close to winning more titles in 2020 after reaching two big SCOOP mixed games final tables.
Then, at EPT Barcelona 2022, Pye captured his first live poker trophy, winning a €550 buy-in HORSE event for €17,290.
“The whole event was so much fun,” he told us after the win. “There was so much table chatter, so many people coming from a hold’em background with no idea how to play, which is good, but it’s also nice to teach them and show them the ropes. I think everyone enjoyed it.”
If you want to learn and play mixed games like Pye, you can simply tune in to his Twitch stream, where he streams most weekday afternoons.
But if you’ve never played any form of poker except no limit hold’em, or you simply love to play the Cadillac, you can.
In Pye’s Home Games Club, you can get involved with members of his community and play Home Games on PokerStars that are exclusive to his followers.
