There was yet another massive field this week for the Super Tuesday, PokerStars’ weekly $1,050 no-limit hold’em event that showcases online poker’s top talent. It was the seventh straight 600-plus entrant week, with 644 playing this time to create a $644,000 prize pool, well over double the event’s $300K guarantee.

In the end not one but two players took away more than a hundred grand’s worth of those riches, with Jonas “donut604” Mackoff of Canada defeating dustin1980 of Costa Rica heads-up after the pair had struck a deal to even out the final payouts. Mackoff ended up taking away $106,040.43 for his efforts while dustin1980 earned $104,869.57, both earning around 100x returns on their investments.

It took about five-and-a-half hours for the money bubble burst, and with 72 players left eventual winner Jonas “donut604” Mackoff was in the lead wth a.urli not far behind.

About two hours after that they were down to 18, with flavioabbud and Phil “takechip” D’Auteuil the new leaders and a.urli in third position while Mackoff had momentarily slipped to short-stacked status.

Among the fallen making the money was Team Online member Caio “Pessagno” Pessagno of Brazil who made it all of the way to 22nd ($3,864). Pessagno’s last hand saw him reraise-shoving with a little over 13 big blinds with 8♥ 8♣ and getting called by medmar who had Aâ™  Jâ™  , then watching an ace fall among the community cards to end his run.

It would take another hour for nine more to be sent railward, with TheDegeneral (18th), Dave “sexygee” Gent (17th), and Gaby rojo (16th) earning $5,152 apiece, medmar (15th), yasunori66 (14th), and flavioabbud (13th) picking up $6,440 scores, and NegPL (12th), Sergi Reixach “srxakgirona” (11th), and Randall “RandALLin” Flowers (10th) each cashing for $7,728.

With a.urli having taken over the lead and the tourney nearing the nine-hour mark, the final table was underway.

Seat 1: dustin1980 (Costa Rica) — 699,147
Seat 2: sp2608 (Argentina) — 258,658
Seat 3: Phil “takechip” D’Auteuil (Canada) — 300,269
Seat 4: Kuatro (Portugal) — 206,035
Seat 5: Alexandru “tilt21sted” Papazian (Romania) — 340,397
Seat 6: a.urli (Canada) — 969,561
Seat 7: Jonas “donut604” Mackoff (Canada) — 128,244
Seat 8: Yngve “Sykoen” Steen (Norway) — 218,558
Seat 9: Paul “padjes” Berende (Netherlands) — 99,131

The scheduled break came and went, and soon after the blinds were 4,000/8,000 when Alexandru “tilt21sted” Papazian raised to 16,000 from under the gun, dustin1980 reraised to 38,675 from the cutoff seat, then Phil “takechip” D’Auteuil four-bet to 81,320 from the small blind. It folded to Papazian who stepped aside, then dustin1980 pushed all in and D’Auteuil called with the 187,749 left.

dustin1980: A♣ A♠

The two best starting hands in hold’em had been dealt to the two players, and after the 5♦ 2♦ 6♦ A♥ 8♦ board dustin1980’s hand had improved to a set of aces while D’Auteuil had been knocked out in ninth.

Soon the blinds were 4,500/9,000 when Paul “padjes” Berende raised to 44,444 from middle position, leaving but 11,737 behind. It folded to a.urli in the big blind who reraised, and Berende called all in, turning over A♦ J♥ to a.urli’s J♣ J♦ .

The board came 8♦ 10♠ 8♠ 6♠ 4♥ , and Berende was out in eighth.

They played on nearly a half-hour more, then a big three-way all-in confrontation arose involving Yngve “Sykoen” Steen, dustin1980, and sp2608.

The blinds were 5,000/10,000 when Steen open-raised to 20,894 from the button, then both players in the blinds pushed all in, first dustin1980 from the SB with a then chip-leading stack of more than 1.2 million, then a short-stacked sp2608 from the BB for 105,066. Sykoen called all in with the 240,370 he had left, and the trio’s cards were revealed.

Sykoen: A♣ Q♠
sp2608: 8♥ 8♠

The community cards came 4♦ A♠ Q♥ 3♣ 9♣ , giving Steen two pair and continued tourney life while sp2608 was bumped in seventh.

Next out was Alexandru “tilt21sted” Papazian in sixth in a hand that began with a min-raise to 24,000 by Kuatro from the cutoff seat, after which Papazian reraised all in for 68,112 from the button and when folded back to Kuatro called.

It was Qâ™  J♣ for tilt21sted who needed help against Kuatro’s A♣ 9â™  . But the board came 2♦ 5â™  6♦ 10♥ 6♣ , and as the 11-hour mark arrived they were down to five.

The final five took another break, then came the biggest pot of the tourney — good for more than 1.4 million — and another knockout.

After a.urli raised 2x from UTG, leader dustin1980 reraised to 57,875 from the small blind, and a.urli called. The flop came K♥ 3♦ J♥ and dustin1980 led for 52,950. a.urli called. The turn was the 5♥ and this time dustin1980 checked. a.urli bet 102,000, dustin1980 check-raised all in, and a.urli called with the 488,851 remaining.

a.urli had A♥ K♣ for top pair, top kicker plus a nut flush draw, but dustin1980 had flopped a set with Jâ™  J♣ . The A♦ river wasn’t enough for a.urli who was out in fifth.

The very next hand saw Jonas “donut604” Mackoff double through Kuatro when his Aâ™  Q♦ survived against the latter’s Kâ™  Qâ™  .

Down to less than three big blinds after that hand, Kuatro hung on a short while longer before going all in and facing a couple of opponents — dustin1980 and Yngve “Sykoen” Steen — who checked down the 10♦ Q♦ K♦ flop and 6â™  turn. The 5♥ fell on the river, and dustin1980 check-folded to a small bet from Steen who then showed Kâ™  6♣ for two pair. That beat Kuatro’s Q♣ J♥ , and just three remained.

Play continued a short while, then was paused for a deal discussion with dustin1980 well in front with 1,955,365, Jonas “donut604” Mackoff next with 792,151, and Yngve “Sykoen” Steen third with 472,484. A deal based on “ICM” calculations was proposed (leaving $6,000 for which to play), and while dustin1980 was agreeable, Mackoff wanted more and no deal was made.

Then came a hand that saw Mackoff limp from the small blind, Steen raise 2.5x to 40,000 from the big blind, donut604 make it 96,365 to go, Sykoen push all in for 520,484 total, and Mackoff call.

Sykoen: J♣ 10♣

Steen needed help, but the Q♠ 7♠ Q♦ flop suddenly squashed all hope, giving Mackoff quads and making the next two cards no matter as Steen was out in third.

Heads-up play started with dustin1980 in front with 1,939,365 to donut604’s 1,280,635. But Mackoff snared the lead on the first hand between them after turning an eight-high straight and getting two streets’ worth of value, and by the time they reached the 11-hour mark and the break donut604 had about a 2-to-1 lead.

They battled another half-hour, during which dustin1980 was able to chip up and retake the advantage. Then the pair decided to talk about a deal again, with dustin1980 sitting at 1,903,150 and Jonas “donut604” Mackoff 1,316,850.

After some discussion they asked to see what a chop would look like leaving $15K aside for the winner, then also requested the numbers when just leaving $6K on the table. The second set of figures guaranteed dustin1980 $104,869.57 and Mackoff $100,040.43.

“100k score nice to lock up lol” typed donut604 just before the numbers were produced. “Right,” replied dustin1980, and soon the two agreed to the latter deal and cards went back in the air.

They played on, and eventually Mackoff retook the lead again, once more in a hand saw him turning a straight — a six-high one this time while holding 6♦ 5♥ — and eventually winning a better than 1.2 million-chip pot. Then five hands later donut604 had more than 2.17 million to the 1.04 million of dustin1980 when the final hand took place.

The blinds were 12,500/25,000, and the hand began with dustin1980 raising to 50,000 from the button, donut604 three-betting to 126,400, and dustin1980 calling.

The flop came 4♣ 7♠ Q♠ . donut604 led for 96,357, dustin1980 raised to 219,875, and donut604 called. The turn ws the 3♥ and this time Mackoff checked. dustin1980 took that opening to push all in for 692,382, and Mackoff called right away.

dustin1980: Q♣ 8♣
donut604: 4♥ 4♦

Top pair for dustin1980, but already drawing dead versus Mackoff’s set of fours. The 2♦ meaninglessly fell on fifth, and it was over… donut604 had won!
