Home / Uncategorized / LAPT7 Peru: Sweet October miracle

Not to overemphasize every meal we’ve enjoyed here in Lima so far this week, but today’s lunch here at the Atlantic City Casino restaurant provided yet more satisfaction in the nourishment department. Alas, while the ensalada appetizer and tilapia entree were each divine, your humble scribbler was forced to skedaddle before the delivery of dessert, which unfortunately left a particularly tantalizing mystery unsolved.

There were a few idiosyncratic translations on the menu, as well as some items the descriptions of which were head-scratchers no matter the language. One in particular stood out this time, a dessert choice the name of which yielded little clue as to what it might be. Regardless, it was a must order.

Sweet October miracle.

However time became short, and not being able to remain long enough to receive the dessert I’d ordered, I am unable to report what precisely a delight so named might be.

Much remains in doubt in the poker room, too, with several days still left to be played before clarifications will be made. Unlike I was at lunch today, all must be patient, content to wait and see.

That being said, some players are starting to make at least their immediate futures clearer today, including a trio of Brazilians — Guilherme Moura, Igor Campanha, and Guilherme Moura — all of whom have already pushed up around the 75,000-chip mark.

Meanwhile Rafael Porzecanski of Uruguay has been even more impressive during the afternoon’s latter levels, moving his stack up around 110,000.

And Jose “El Presidente” Santos of Venezuela — so nicknamed because of the coincidence of his name with Colombia’s current leader — was flirting with the 120,000-chip mark for a time a short while ago before falling back to the pack.

All chase end-of-Day-1A leader Henry Zapana of Peru who ended play last night with 199,000 — a total that makes for a nice round-numbered goal for those aiming at earning at least a single yellow 1,000-chip more to reach 200,000.

But whatever the chip leaders accumulate today, the real dessert won’t be served until Sunday’s final table, where the LAPT Grand Final’s sweet October miracle awaits.
