Home / Uncategorized / LAPT8 Chile: Fearsome foes among the fellows

Dinner is over, and with the start of Level 7 there’ll be no más re-entradas today. Tomorrow’s Day 1B, however, offers continued hope for those who subsequently bust.

Shortly after players returned, a table broke scattering a handful around the tournament area, among them Ariel “ArielBahia” Celestino who carried a short stack over to one of the tables in the center of the room, one ringed round on all sides by others.

Sporting a short stack, Celestino might have felt even more claustrophobic after surveying who else was sitting at his new table. Celestino is currently ranked as the top live tournament player in all of Brazil, but many of his fellow countrymen currently challenging him for that distinction occupied nearby seats.

There was Thiago “XTheDecanoX” Nijishima, also with a below average stack, sitting a couple of spots to his right.

Looking the other direction, Fernando “groww” Garcia — who just took third in this week’s Super Tuesday — sat with a stack just under 40,000. Celestino had been sitting on Garcia’s left earlier today, and now was about to start vying for pots against him once more.

Meanwhile across the table Celestino could see the player whom we noted already starting to accumulate during the first two levels today, Rodrigo “rportaleoni” Garrido. That trend we’d witnessed early on continued in earnest during the afternoon, as he returned from dinner to a stack of around 115,000, the clear chip leader to begin the evening portion of play.

Perhaps thankfully for Celestino, Nijishima soon found himself parted from the last of his chips in one of the level’s first hands. But the table remains a tough one, full of friendly though fearsome foes.
