Home / Uncategorized / LAPT8 Peru: Ramirez takes last of Chauriye’s chips, moves in front

Play at today’s final table began where it concluded a day ago, halfway through Level 22, with the blinds at 8,000/16,000 with a 2,000 ante.

The very first hand saw fireworks after Cristian Aceiton Ruiz opened from the cutoff, Helio Neves three-bet from the button, Ruiz called, and the pair saw a flop come 8♦ 4♠ 10♥ . Ruiz then check-rased a bet from Martinez, pushing the pot toward 500,000.

Both checked the 7♣ turn, then Ruiz confidently led for 200,000 following the 6♥ river card. The Brazilian Neves tanked for some time before finally emerging with a call, and when Ruiz showed his A♠ 5♠ for a straight, Neves slowly mucked, having been knocked back down under 350,000 while Ruiz jumped up to about 1.35 million.

A couple of hands later came more action, with the short stack Ricardo Chauriye open-raising all in from early position for just over 200,000, getting one caller from Daniel Ramirez from a couple of seats over.

Chauriye: A♣ K♦
Ramirez: 8♣ 8♠

The board came an uneventful 4♥ 10♣ 10♥ , then 10♦ , then 3♣ , and only half an orbit into the final table, the Chilean Chauriye’s day was done as he had finished eighth ($19,060).

That hand pushes Ramirez up and into the chip lead with around 1.75 million as they reach the end of the level. Seven remain.
