Five titles in five months, no problem for Team PokerStars Pro Marcel Luske, also known as the “Flying Dutchman”. In fact, Luske’s last five cashes have all been wins in PokerStars events.
Luske’s good fortune began back in December 2012 when he topped a field of 130 players to win the PokerStars Hold’em Challenge Winter Edition €500 No Limit Hold’em event at the Casino de Namur in Belgium, good for $15,162. A month later, Luske jet set across the world to partake in the 2013 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure where he added two more trophies to his mantle–Event #16 $1,000 H.O.R.S.E. for $18,500 and Event #32 $1,000 8 Game for $13,810.
“Highlights have being getting cards to play, take chances to win it, and be successful in finding the perfect chemistry between having a great time while having fun during that time,” Luske explained. As if winning three titles in a month’s time wasn’t fun enough, Luske kept the ball rolling at the EPT Berlin.
“The trip to Berlin was fantastic, not only because of the winnings, but the town was fantastic.” Luske sad. “The weather and people very nice and the Hyatt Hotel I stayed in was a blessing.” The winnings Luske speaks of was a combined $51,345 from, you guessed it, two more wins.
The first came on April 23 in the €1,000 Pot Limit Omaha Eight-Handed side event when he emerged victorious over a 119-entry field to win $41,946. Just two days later, Luske would once again be hoisting a trophy, this time for a win in the €1,000 Seven Card Stud Deepstack event, good for $9,399.
“Of course it feels great to win events cause that is the goal of any competition. compete and finally be the best,” Luske said in regards to his latest preliminary wins. “Do I wish to win the main? Yes always, but the cards don’t know that when they are dealt and it will be never easy without that flow in any particular competition.”
So what’s next for the Team PokerStars Pro, who now has more than $4 million in career live earnings and 31 live tournament wins, as far as poker is concerned?
“Next for me as a poker player is playing at the most beautiful events in the world while supporting and educating the poker industry to bring in a set of the International Poker Rules,” Luske explained. “Also to gain credibility and respect from non-poker related audiences and media, and to make it easier for players, dealers and staff to run competitions even more smoothly.”
