9.10pm: Zhenwu Wang Eliminated in 2nd Place (HK$784,000)

And just like that the MPC: Red Dragon Main Event is over! Heads-up may have started slow, but it certainly didn’t end that way. The final hand of the tournament was fast-paced and it began when Zhenwu Wang limped the button. Yoshitaka Okawa then raised it up to 230,000 from the big blind, at which point Wang limp-raised it up to 580,000. Okawa opted to make a call and the dealer flipped three cards onto the felt.

Flop: 9♦ 5♦ Q♣

Okawa asked Wang if he was going to go all-in, before sliding out a bet of 250,000. Wang then wen’t all in for around 1,200,000 and Okawa made the call. Wang held 8♦ 7♦ , with the flush draw behind Okawa’s meager 10♣ 8♣ .

Although Okawa only held ten-high on the flop, by the time the J♣ hit the turn, he had made a straight and would only need to dodge one more street to win the tournament.

When the 2♥ completed the board on the river, Okawa’s rail shouted in joy, while Wang’s gave him a pat on the back for a job well done. For Wang’s 2nd-place effort, he goes home with a huge HK$784,000.

9.00pm: Break Agreed

As the blinds and antes continued to be traded, the two players have just agreed that they wish to have a break at the end of the current level.

8.45pm: Slow it Up

The action has once again slowed to a crawl. With the blinds and antes simply being traded around the table, Yoshitaka Okawa still has a big chip lead. Below is how they are currently stacking up.

Yoshitaka Okawa – 6,000,000
Zhenwu Wang – 1,800,000

8.25pm: Level Up, Blinds 40,000-80,000, Ante 10,000

8.20pm: First Big Hand of Heads-Up

Heads-up started very slowly, but has now seen a big hand played out. It started with Zhenwu Wang limping the button, at which point Yoshitaka Okawa raised it up to 210,000. Wang made the call and the dealer flipped over a 2♠ Q♦ A♣ flop.

Both players checked the flop and an 8♣ hit the turn. At the sight of the eight, Okawa led for 125,000 and Wang quickly raised it up to 300,000. Back on Okawa and he raised it again, this time to 625,000. Wang called and a 6♠ completed the board on the river. This time Okawa bet out just 125,000 and Wang called. Okawa showed his A♦ 4♣ first and Wang gave a bit of a fist pump as he turned over his A♠ 9♣ to scoop up the pot with the better kicker.

8.10pm: Slow Times

The heads-up battle has been quite slow of late, with barely a flop being seen. It is certainly a slower pace than just a short while ago! We will be sure to let you know of any fireworks when they inevitably happen!

7.50pm: Heads-Up Begins

The two remaining players took a quick break while their heads-up battle was set up, but are now back in the seat and ready to keep playing. Below is how they currently stack up.

Yoshitaka Okawa – 5,994,000
Zhenwu Wang – 1,902,000

Only one of these players can become the champion!

7.45pm: Eemil Tuominen Eliminated in 3rd Place (HK$462,000)

Eemil Tuominen was in the small blind when he opened it up to 135,000. Yoshitaka Okawa then moved all in from the big blind, having his opponent well covered. Tuominen immediately called and tabled his K♥ K♦ , which was well ahead of Okawa’s 3â™  3♦ .

Tuominen looked relaxed as the dealer flipped over a Q♦ 7♣ 6â™  flop and was still relatively relaxed when a 5â™  hit the turn, despite the fact Okawa now had a gutshot straight draw. Tuominen’s expression did change when the dealer turned over a 4♥ on the river, as his tournament came crushing down around him.

Despite having to cop a bad beat, Tuominen can happy to go home with HK$462,000 for his 3rd-place finish.

7.30pm: Wang Letting Cards Go

Zhenwu Wang has recently folded a few of his hands face up. The first time saw Wang limp in the small blind, at which point Eemil Tuominen shoved from the big blind. Wang eventually made the fold, turning over an A♦ as he did so. Tuominen obliged by tabling his 8♣ 8♠ .

The next hadn, Wang opened the button to 165,000 and Yoshitaka Okawa called in the big blind. On the 6♥ Q♠ 2♥ flop, Okawa led for 230,000 and Wang folded his 9♣ 9♥ face up.

7.15pm: Back With Three

The three remaining players are back from their extended break and ready to start making their way to crowning an MPC: Red Dragon champion! Below is how the stacks are currently looking. As you can see, Yoshitaka Okawa still has a dominating lead over his opponents.

Zhenwu Wang – 1,982,000
Eemil Tuominen – 685,000

Level Up, Blinds 30,000-60,000, Ante 5,000
