Seat 1: Buyanjargal Bold, 32 – Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – 2,700,000 in chips
Mongolia’s Buyanjargal Bold lists his occupation as “private business”, but there was nothing private about his business at the poker table as he put on dominating performance to be the chip leader for much of the penultimate day of action.
Bold first developed an interested for poker as a croupier in Germany and since then has established a passion for no limit holdem. In his spare time Bold loves to play basketball. Bold has no tournament results up until this point in his career, but with the second largest chip stack at the final table is looking good to make a big impact.
Seat 2: Akash Malik, 31 – India – 2,285,000 in chips
With two tables remaining in the MPC20 Red Dragon Main Event only two things could be heard in the PokerStars LIVE Macau poker room – Firstly, the ruffling of chips. Secondly, the Indian rail of Akash Malik. It was an exciting time for Malik and his friends as Malik was the first player on Day 3 to crack 2 million in chips.
Malik claims that the biggest highlight in poker is having made the final table of the PokerStars Sunday Million. Malik has been playing poker for six years and knows how to close with several titles on the India poker circuit to his credit. However, an 8th place finish or better in the Red Dragon would set a new career result for him.
Seat 3: Fei Xie, 32 – Guiyang City, China – 1,355,000 in chips
Fei Xie has been here before. Not only that, he was here back in April when fellow MPC20 final tablist Terry Fan took down the Red Dragon. Xie finished 4th in that event and this time will be looking to do what Fan did and win the title.
Xie has been playing poker for six years and attributes the movie “Rounders” as the biggest influence on his game. Xie loves to play basketball in his spare time and has enjoyed “playing with all the good players” here at MPC20.
Seat 4: Richard Hu, 48 – Jiangxi, China – 1,265,000 in chips
Richard Hu made the final table of the MPC Red Dragon back in 2012 where he finished in 5th place. That was the best result of his career, but he hopes to change that this week.
By day Hu is a business owner but has been playing poker for eight years. He loves to play home games with friends and believes he has good self control at the tables. Hu plays tennis in his spare time and also enjoys the PokerStars LIVE at the City of Dreams poker room.
Seat 5: Percy Yung, 30 – Hong Kong – 760,000 in chips
Percy Yung is a former Hong Kong model and is a regular on the Macau poker scene. Yung is the only lady at the final table, just like she was at the ten-handed 2010 Red Dragon final table. Unfortunately Yung was eliminated in 10th place in that event, but now is her chance for retribution.
The biggest highlight of Yung’s career was finishing 100th in the WSOP Ladies Event, but that might change after the MPC20 Red Dragon final table. Outside of poker Yung enjoys water sports. Yung has the second shortest stack at the final table.
Seat 6: Jianhong Liu, 28 – Guangzhou, China – 640,000 in chips
Jianhong Liu is the short stack at the final table and perhaps has the least experience, having no results to speak of and having only played poker for the last 18 months. However, Liu tells us he loves the excitement of poker and will be working hard to fight against the odds and go all the way.
Liu usually plays HK$25/$50 cash games and loves the ambience of the PokerStars LIVE Macau poker room. In his spare time Liu enjoys car racing and works in the construction business.
Seat 7: Terry Fan, 31 – Taipei, Taiwan – 1,115,000 in chips
Taiwanese poker pro Terry Fan is the only hero on the final table to have successfully slayed the Red Dragon before. Last April, Fan defeated a then-record 891-player field and followed that up with a string of strong results which placed him 3rd on the final 2013 Asia Player of the Year standings – just 315 points short of the No. 1 rank.
Fan is in position to gain legendary status as a victory on Tuesday would make him the winner of the two largest ever Red Dragon events. He would also be joining Team PokerStars Pro Celina Lin as the only 2-time champion. In his spare time Fan loves to exercise, watch movies and “womanise”.
Seat 8: Xiao Lin, 31 – Beijing, China -1,025,000 in chips
Xiao Lin is a 30-year old Sales Manager who has played strictly tournament poker for five years. His best result to date is a 30th place finish in last year’s ACOP Warm-up event where he won HK $47,600.
Lin has already bested that result with his first final table appearance and this soccer fan hopes to score his first title as well.
Seat 9: Victor Teng, 22 – Sydney, Australia – 3,535,000 in chips
Australia’s Victor Teng is the chip leader of the MPC20 Red Dragon Main Event and he is also the youngest player of the final nine. However, that doesn’t mean he’s the least experienced as Teng has dozens of results on his poker resume including winning the NPL500 in 2012 for a large AUD$200,000.
Teng claims that the biggest influence on his poker game has been Zynga Poker and “The Boss MintyTaro”. Teng normally plays $5/$5 cash games in Sydney, but doesn’t mind playing here in Macau, especially considering a highlight of this trip has been “the Asian girls.”
