PokerStars 10th Anniversary: Now you can make poker history

November 07, 2011

Things have gone a little crazy at PokerStars. You know we’ve announced our 10th Anniversary celebrations, right? And you know we unveiled a special $10 Million guaranteed Sunday Million and that we had 100 PCA packages to give away? That’s right, give away. Well, today we announce something else: with your help, we plan to shatter the Guinness World Record for the biggest ever online tournament in poker history.

In 2009 we set the bar, smashing the record when nearly 150,000 of you took part in a landmark tourney.

We plan to wipe that out. Here’s the deal:

– On Sunday, December 4 at 12.30pm (ET), PokerStars will host its World Record Tournament
– $1 buy-in
– $250,000 guaranteed prize pool
– $50,000 guaranteed for first place

You read that correctly. For just $1 you could win a guaranteed $50,000. And even if you don’t win, you’ll know you have been part of poker history. If that seems a little unreal, consider our player oskar69 who won our previous World Record Tournament in December, 2009. He picked up $50,000 for topping a field of 149,196 players.

So, let me make this as clear as I can: You won’t want to miss this tournament!

To register early for this special tournament, open the PokerStars client and click Events>>10th Anniversary>>All. To find it even faster, type the word ‘record’ in the Tourney Filter.

For a little added fun, PokerStars is placing a $10 bounty on the head of every member of Team PokerStars Pro who takes part.

One of those playing, ElkY, knows all about world records. “It’s exciting and unique to be part of a World Record,” said ElkY, who holds a personal Guinness World Record for Most Online Poker Tables Played in One Hour (62, with a profit of $23.60). “I’m looking forward to doing it again on December 4. It will be great to see so many players come together to make history once again at the world’s largest poker site.”

The record attempt will be overseen and confirmed by Guinness World Records and listed in their renowned database of ‘world bests’.

Get registering, and good luck!
