Sam Greenwood leads the final 43 players in the $10k High Roller and he’s looking to win his second PokerStars Championship High Roller tournament of the year.

Actually…wait, no he isn’t.

That was Luc, Luc Greenwood, Sam’s twin brother. Luc won the PSC Bahamas High Roller this January and now Sam is looking to keep it in the family. Luc did try to defend his title, but he was eliminated late in the day. Sam Greenwood on the other hand doubled through Francisco Benitez in Level 6 and just kept rising.

Greenwood kept winning pots and busting players as the day went on. At the end of the 10 levels of play, he managed to bag 316,500. While Sam didn’t win the last PSC High Roller, he has plenty high roller experience. Greenwood won the last €25,000 EPT 8-max High Roller and finished 2nd in two other EPT Super High Rollers.

The competition is stiff though and Pedro Idrovo isn’t too far behind Greenwood. Idrovo finished the day second in chips with 308,200 and Aleks Dimitrov rounds off the top three with 287,700.

Team PokerStars Pro Felipe Ramos also finished strong. The Brazilian pro finished the day fifth in chips with 231,400. Ramos coached Tito Ortiz during the fighter’s stellar Main Event run and now the Team Pro is trying to make a deep run of his own.

Fellow Team PokerStars Pro Leo Fernandez also managed to crack the top 10. Fernandez will come back tomorrow with 148,600.

While 43 players made it to Day 2, the field might still grow a bit. There were a total of 101 entries today and players are allowed to register until the start of Day 2.

But the dream is gone for some. Isaac Haxton, Martin Finger, Eric Seidel, Martin Jacobson and Kristen Bicknell all signed up for the High Roller, but hit the rail before the end of the day. Seidel and Finger still haven’t used their re-entry and could come back with the rest of the players tomorrow at noon for Day 2.
