Despite the fact than an hour level was knocked off the Day 2 schedule, I’d say we still manage to cram in just as much action.
After three Day 1 flights, this tournament with 949 total entries had got down to 354 players, all of whom returned to battle at the Casino Marbella at midday today. But here we are, some eight hours later, and that field now stands at just 76.
Team Pros busted, the bubble burst, and yet most of the more notable players remaining in our field stayed alive. In the end though, it’s Thomas De Rooij who bagged up the biggest stack with 1.189 million, having taken the lead around the time of the bubble and managing to hold onto it for the rest of the evening.
Other big stacks who will return for Day 3 tomorrow include Fares Shehadeh with 981K (who won a huge pot in the last hand of the night), Jose Carlos Lopez with 921K, and Fabrizio Privitera with 834K. Full chip counts will be posted overnight.
Meanwhile the notable names still alive include Team PokerStars Pro Fatima Moreira de Melo with 114K, and two former UKIPT Marbella champs – 2013 winner Ludovic Geilich with 185K, and Jonathan Schuman with 165K. Anton Wigg made it through with 291K, as did Leo Margets with 343K, and Sebastian Malec who’s short-stacked with 73K. Blinds at the start of Day 3 will be 5K/10K.
The final 135 players all made the money, but spare a thought for Daniel Lukacs, our bubble boy. He found himself all-in in the big blind, having less the required ante in front of him. Needless to say he busted, and you can read all about that hand here.
Another player who busted before the money was Team PokerStars Pro Marcin Horecki. He came into today with less than a starting stack, and in fact made his exit in the first level of the day. Joining him on the rail over the course of play were Chris Dowling and end-of-Day 1B chip leader Thora Arntzen.
