Home / Uncategorized / PokerStars Festival Rozvadov: The least painful bubble ever

Money bubbles are like King’s Casino hotel shuttles; sometimes you wait an hour for one, and then three turn up at once.

Here in Rozvadov, the latter was true (for the bubble at least). It took just two hand-for-hand hands for us to burst the bubble, and yet the burden of bubble boy wasn’t officially cast on any one person. Three players were eliminated in the course of that one hand, meaning they split the money for 215th place (giving them around €500 each).

Due to its speed, efficiency, and the fact that even the bubble boys got paid, we’d say that was the least painful bubble ever.

First elimination

The first guy to fall after play at all other tables had finished was Daniel Heidelbacher. After Marco Natalino open-jammed from the cutoff for his 82,500 stack, it folded to Heidelbacher in the big blind and he called off his 33,000. It was the K♥ K♦ for Natalino and the J♥ J♣ for Heidelbacher, and when the board ran out 2♣ 4♥ 7♠ 4♣ 9♦ the cowboys held up.

Heidelbacher was due to be our 217th place, leaving us on the stone bubble unless anyone else busted. Of course, we’ve already told you that two other plays did, so let’s just crack on.

Second elimination

Next to drop was Pierre Parrino, at the hands of Tomasz Wrobel. Parrino was all-in with the Qâ™  Q♣ on a 7♥ 7♣ 5♥ flop, and was way ahead of Wrobel’s 5♣ 6♣ . The 9â™  turn changed nothing, but the 5â™  river gave Wrobel a full house.

A cruel end of the road for Parrino, who quickly got out his seat and left the tournament area, thinking he’d won nothing. Eventually he came back to grab his third of the prize.

Third elimination

This one was an absolute doozy.

Leonardo Romeo opened and it folded to Marko Tiedmann who flatted, as did Steve Toisul. They saw a 6♣ 7â™  9♣ flop, on which Tiedmann open jammed for around 100,000. Toisul called again, only for Romeo to re-jam over the top with the bigger stack. Incredibly, Toisul then folded and showed his pocket sevens. He’d thrown away middle set…was it the right decision?

Of course it was. Sure, the set of sevens were beating Tiedmann’s pocket sixes for bottom set, but they sure weren’t beating Romeo’s pocket nines for top set. The 4♥ and 2♥ completed the board to eliminated Tiedmann, and increase Romeo’s stack to 498,000.
