Make no mistake about it. Time is a commodity. If you put it on a stock exchange, its share price would rise higher than Apple, Google, or pork bellies in a matter of minutes.

Be honest with yourself. How many times have you chosen to not enter a tournament because you knew you didn’t have the time to finish? Now, be even more honest with yourself and consider how many times you entered a tournament knowing full well you had to be somewhere before the event had time to reach a winner.

Now, imagine knowing exactly when the tournament will end.

That’s what PokerStars began offering today with its brand new Time Tourneys.

You know how a normal tournament works. It starts, and it doesn’t end until one player has all the chips. PokerStars Time Tourneys will run for a predetermined amount of time. When the clock runs out, everything in the prize pool is awarded to people who still have chips based on the size of their stacks.

So, how long do they last?

Right now, PokerStars is launching Time Tourneys that range from 15 minutes long to three hours. They start with buy-ins at $1 and go up from there.

Beginning today, PokerStars is giving people a chance to try out their new Time Tourneys by giving anyone who makes a deposit of $30 or more a $5.50 tournament ticket. Despositors need only to use the code TIME between now and October 28.

To find the Time Tourneys, simply open the PokerStars lobby, click on the TOURNEY tab, and look for tournaments marked with a stopwatch icon.

Finally, if you’re looking for a good excuse to try out the new Time Tourneys, beginning this Saturday, PokerStars will add a brand new regular event to its Saurday Line-Up. The Saturday Countdown, a two-hour Time Tourney featuring a $22 buy-in, will run every week at 13:00 ET with a $10,000 guarantee. Also, the following Saturday, October 29, all the Saturday Line-Up guarantees will be doubled.

Those who say “time is money” are right, and more often than not, those people know how to make the most of both. Now, PokerStars has found a way to let its players play tournaments without having to worry about how much time it will take to finish. For those who consider time as precious as money, it’s almost like having half your buy-in refunded to you.
