This was the weekend that Dan Cates won the All-Star Showdown for $550,000. This was the weekend that we resurrected our legendary Double Vision weekends laying on twice as many of the big Sunday tournaments as normal. This was the weekend that nine different players won six figure scores in PokerStars tournaments (eleven if you include Cates and All-Star Showdown runner-up Ben Sulsky). This was the last weekend before Full Tilt Poker relaunched. This was the weekend that was.

The Double Vision weekend anted up $5,012,700.75 in big money tourneys

  • Dan ‘w00ki3z’ Cates came out on top of the All-Star Showdown beating an incredibly tough eight-man line-up to win $550,000 beating Ben ‘Sauce123’ Sulsky in the final.

  • The Double Vision weekend created a combined prize pool of $5,012,700.75 across the four (sorry, make that eight) big Sunday guaranteed tournaments. The twin Sunday Millions were won by Akademnuk (Russia) who won $219,425.24 in the first edition and Joao M. (Brazil) who pocketed $147,233.14 for the mirrored tourney.

  • They weren’t the only winners. Shane ‘shaniac’ Schleger of the Team PokerStars Online brigade bagged yet another tourney win, good for $18,660 (not bad for a $2.20 re-buy). Check out all the key weekend tournament results here, including a nice $100,000 win for hunter_az533 in the $1,000,000 quarterly Supernova freeroll.

  • Excited whimpers can be heard around the world as the 6 November gets closer putting the relaunch of Full Tilt Poker just one day away. You can read this announcement about it on our Corporate Blog.

  • The Asian Championship of Poker got underway with the HKD $5,000,000 guarantee preliminary event kicking off and Team PokerStars Pro Celina Lin eating cake. Follow coverage through this link here.
