If you were to consider WCOOP a film with each of its 65 events a scene then this weekend’s tournaments, including the $10,300 Heads Up High Roller (WCOOP-43) and $2,100 No-Limit Hold’em $1,250,000 guaranteed (WCOOP-44) would mark the moment that the music starts pounding into a crescendo and the anti-hero decides, despite himself, to turn the car round dusting himself down for one last slugfest. Next Sunday is the big one: WCOOP-65 : $5,000 NL Hold’em Main Event, which has a guaranteed $1,000,000 for first and which will likely be much more. Guarantees have so been smashed left, right and centre throughout this WCOOP, which held a combined $30,000,000 guarantee. Considering there are players that have been away on the live grind returning to the fray this week we’ll only see the world’s largest online poker festival getting bigger.

Busquet finished runner-up at EPT Campione last season

While Busquet may be used to handling the pressure there are a good couple of hundred players that might be feeling the butterflies in their stomachs this afternoon.

Two WCOOP tournaments were paused overnight with some big names left in including Team PokerStars Pros Vanessa Selbst, Liv Boeree, Humberto Brenes and, of course, George Danzer, who’s been having an absolutely outstanding series so far. A catch up on both of those will be out before play resumes this afternoon so keep your eyes on the PokerStars Blog and sign up to the PokerStars Blog Twitter account if you want it piped to you direct.

Danzer is second on the WCOOP leader board at the moment but is guaranteed more points today.
