Weekend highlights

Excellent weekend for papan9_p$: Two time WCOOP champion Viktor “papan9_p$” Ustimov impressed with an excellent run of finishes over the weekend. The Russian pro, who has over $8.1 million in online tournament winnings, came second in Saturday’s Bounty Builder HR and third in the $1,050 Daily Cooldown. Back for more the following evening, Ustimov took down the $530 Sunday Marathon for $8,078.

Ebaaa11 beats Lena900 to the Warm-up win: Niklas “Lena900” Astedt of Sweden is currently online poker’s top online tournament earner. We’ve not seen his name so much on the results lists in recent weeks, but now Astedt is getting closer again. This time, though, Lena was denied by “Ebaaa11” heads-up in the $1,050 Sunday Warm-up. Ebaaa11 took $15,384 for the much deserved first place finish. The Russian player also supplemented the victory with a fifth place finish in the $1,050 Sunday Cooldown worth $3,416.

Elsewhere in the High Roller Club: Bulgarian player “AchoBogdanov”, who’s previous wins include a $218k Sunday Million score back in 2018, bested Adrian “Amadi_017” Mateos heads-up to take down the $1,050 Sunday HR for $37,890. In the $1,050 Sunday Cooldown, competition was arguably fiercest. Yuri “theNERDguy” Martins came third and Niklas “Lena900” Astedt second. The player to outlast them all was “koreanmonkey” (yes, of Korea), who earned $16,475.

Benjamin “Bencb789” Rolle claims victory in the BBHR

Trophies for Team Pro: Team Pro are never too far away from the top spots. This weekend, UK player and streamer Fintan “easywithaces” Hand took down the $215 Saturday KO for $7,916. Sam “SamSquid” Grafton, also from the UK, earned his trophy in Hyper Weekend. He claimed first place in the $215 PKO hyper for $17,884, with over $9k coming from bounties. The biggest win of the weekend for Team Pro came when Benjamin “bencb789” Rolle actualized his run in Sunday’s Bounty Builder HR. After two days of action, bencb earned $64,728, with half that amount coming from bounties.

Six figure sums in $5k Titans: 125 elite players took to the tables in the $5k Titans, making for a prize pool of $625k. “Hendurr” of Sweden second for $106,139, and “ibotown” of Austria came first for $136,991. Both players have multiple five figure scores on their records, but for both this six figure sum is a career high. Such is the potential of the Titans event.

Peter “Belabaccsi” Trapley among Hyper Weekend winners: Hyper Weekend brought lots of additional action and notable prize pools to the PokerStars server. Among the winners was Peter “Belabaccsi” Trapley of Hungary, who earned $11,150 in the $109 Session Starter on Saturday. “daviderikso” of Sweden won the $530 hyper for $17,211. And later on, “Gobenni” of Brazil took down the special edition Sunday Supersonic for $23,143.

Feature table – Sunday Million

The Sunday Million reverted to its original format after a couple of weeks as a PKO event. A total of 10,388 entries made for a prize pool of $1.04 million, with six figures set for the winner.

“lo-fi dream” came first in the tournament. Incredibly, this is the second time the Brazilian player has took the top spot in the event. The first time was in 2020, when lo-fi dream earned $108,820 for the win.

This time they won a very similar amount, $108,490 for first – perhaps the greatest déjà vu moment in poker history.

Only a handful of players have ever won the Sunday Million multiple times. One player has won it three times. “lo-fi dream” is the 21st player to join the two-time winners club.
