MarkBang and UziStuNNa have quite a bit in common. They both hail from Hungary, and they both final tabled SCOOP events earlier this series. However now only one of them has a SCOOP watch wrapped around their wrist after MarkBang got the better of his countryman heads-up to claim victory in Event #37-M of the 2015 Spring Championship of Online Poker.

It was a $215 Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo Event which offered a $100,000 guarantee, but that number was surpassed as 687 players came together to form a prize pool of $137,400.

Team PokerStars representatives Naoya Kihara, Roy Bhasin, George Danzer and Kosei Ichinose would fall short of the money as the top 90 players would leave with a profit. When Yuri “theNERDguy” Martins was bundled out in 91st place the remaining players locked up at least $357.24.

Jason Mercier would add yet another SCOOP cash to his resume with 56th place worth $439.68 while Adrienne Rowsome went a couple spots further, finishing in 49th place for $480.90.

It would take over ten hours of split pots before the final table would be reached. n1prorider would be the one to bubble the final table after committing on a king-high flop with top pair and a low draw. However Bolivar “Ramux” Palacios had flopped the flush to scoop the pot and leave our final table set as follows:

Final Table Line Up
Seat 1: cutitup (468,844 in chips)
Seat 2: xLuizFelipex (78,915 in chips)
Seat 3: UziStuNNa (478,445 in chips)
Seat 4: MarkBang (464,310 in chips)
Seat 5: Bolivar “Ramux” Palacios (592,532 in chips)
Seat 6: KURRAMBA314 (257,892 in chips)
Seat 7: gonrugby88 (338,409 in chips)
Seat 8: Gambler4444 (451,023 in chips)
Seat 9: LuvHoochies (304,630 in chips)

It would take just three hands to lose our first player from the final table with the short-stacked xLuizFelipex the one to fall. xLuizFelipex raised the pot preflop before committing the rest on the flop of 3♥ 9♦ 10♦ . Both UziStuNNa and cutitup made the call before the two live players checked the Q♥ turn. When the 4♥ landed on the river, UziStuNNa made another bet and cutitup let it go as UziStuNNa tabled A♥ 5♦ 3â™  2♥ for the nut flush. That was too good for xLuizFelipex’s Aâ™  Jâ™  K♥ 7â™  king-high straight. xLuizFelipex won $1,937.34 for ninth place.

MarkBang would land a big double up with two pair against UziStuNNa, before taking over the chip lead with another massive double up, this time through Ramux. The last chips went in on the river with Ramux showing two pair with a 6-5-4 low, but MarkBang revealed a straight for the high and a 6-5-3 low to scoop the seven-figure pot.

Ramux slipped to the short stack but it would be gonrugby88 next to fall. gonrugby88 three-bet jammed preflop with 3♥ 4â™  K♣ A♥ and was up against cutitup’s K♥ A♣ 8♦ 2♦ . The board fell 8â™  3â™  10♣ 6â™  10♥ to give cutitup a better two pair for the high and an 8-6-3 low to narrowly scoop the pot. gonrugby88 would depart in eighth place for $3,091.50 in prize money.

Ramux, a former winner of the Sunday Warm-Up back in 2010, would soon follow to the rail in seventh place. After getting quartered in a pot against LuvHoochies, Ramux was all in preflop for what was left with A♣ 4♠ 2♦ 4♦ . cutitup called with A♠ 5♣ 8♣ 3♦ and it took until the river on the board of Q♥ 9♣ 7♦ 7♥ 5♦ for cutitup to connect with sevens and fives good to take it down. Ramux collected $4,465.50 for seventh place.

MarkBang continued to surge ahead as the big stack and extended the advantage with the elimination of LuvHoochies. The chips were committed on a flop of 10♦ J♦ 6♥ with LuvHoochies showing 2♦ K♥ A♦ 4♥ for straight, flush and low draws that would need to improve to get past MarkBang’s 6♦ Q♦ Kâ™  K♣ . The turn was the 10â™  and the river landed the 6♣ which didn’t help LuvHoochies at all as MarkBang made trip sixes to collect the pot. LuvHoochies finished in sixth place for a nice $5,839.50 score.

UziStuNNa landed a big double up with aces against Gambler4444’s two pair to join the million-chip club, and it was a blow that Gambler4444 was unable to recover from. Again Gambler4444 was a tad unlucky after getting the last chips in on a flop of Qâ™  Q♥ 10♦ . Gambler4444 had 2♦ 4â™  10♣ A♦ for tens and queens against UziStuNNa who was still drawing with 7â™  2♥ J♣ A♥ . The turn was the 9♥ and river the 10♥ to give UziStuNNa a backdoor heart flush to better Gambler4444’s trip tens. Gambler4444, who won a SCOOP title in Event #34-M just a couple of days ago, had to settle for fifth place on this occasion for a $7,213.50 collect.

The rapid-fire bustouts kept coming as KURRAMBA314 would bite the dust. A three-bet all in preflop by KURRAMBA314 with 3â™  10♦ 5♥ A♥ would be called by MarkBang who showed A♦ 2♥ 10♥ K♣ . The hands were similar but the king kicker would prove crucial on the board of J♦ A♣ 4♣ 9♥ Aâ™  as both players made trip aces. MarkBang’s ace-king would play to leave KURRAMBA314 to exit in fourth for a five-figure return of $10,305.

UziStuNNa said, “lets look at deal?”
MarkBang said, “we can”
cutitup said, “ok”
MarkBang said, “do i have time to run to the shop? :)”
cutitup said, “i made a ****ty deal 2 scoops ago. plz dont be weird this time”

There was nothing weird this time as the players took a look at the numbers and quickly agreed to an ICM chop, leaving $2,000, and the SCOOP watch, in the middle to play for.

MarkBang took the lion’s share as the big stack while cutitup was the shorty of the trio, and it would prove to be a good deal for cutitup who was eliminated shortly after the deal was struck.

The flop of 5♣ 9♣ 10â™  would trigger the excitement between cutitup and UziStuNNa as a potting war erupted before all the chips were in the middle. cutitup held 6♣ A♣ 4â™  9♦ for pair and nut flush draw against UziStuNNa’s 9â™  3â™  9♥ 2♦ set of nines. The Kâ™  turn and 4♦ river were club-less and that meant cutitup had to be content with third place for a post-deal amount of $17,260.44.

Heads-up chip counts
Seat 3: UziStuNNa (1,971,665 in chips)
Seat 4: MarkBang (1,463,335 in chips)

That huge pot swung UziStuNNa into the chip lead ahead of MarkBang as Hungary would be assured of a one-two finish in this event.

While the final table had been a flurry of activity for the most part, the heads-up battle was a tough encounter as the two countrymen duked it out for over forty minutes before a champion was crowned.

MarkBang won a nice hand with a straight and followed that up next hand with a rivered set of kings to nudge ahead, and with the chip advantage, he was able to slowly grind down UziStuNNa.

MarkBang won another healthy pot with the nut flush, before UziStuNNa survived three all-ins in a row as the two players split the pot on each occasion.

However when the two collided on a flop of 2♣ 8♣ Aâ™  there would be no chopping of the pot. UziStuNNa was all in with 6â™  10♥ 4â™  5♣ for a low with a straight draw while MarkBang had a better low and a pair with 5♦ 7â™  7♦ 3â™  . The turn was the 4♥ which was the perfect card for MarkBang to make a wheel — the perfect Hi/Lo hand — to leave UziStuNNa in trouble and when the A♣ completed the board, it was all over.

Thanks to the deal, UziStuNNa collected $18,995.69 for second place, but it would be MarkBang who raised the SCOOP trophy, taking home a top prize of $21,795.37. Congratulations!
