SCOOP 2017: Nicolas ‘chilenocl’ Yunis wins second SCOOP title with Shootout win (Event #47-H $2,100 NL 6-Max)

May 20, 2017

Welcome to the Shootout at the Fantasy Factory. A simple game of deception and disruption. Six players entered the Hexagon. Equal stacks, equal footing. Only one player was left standing.

Half of the final table in the 6-Max Shootout were bona fide champions and had captured the glory of a SCOOP title. They feasted on the winner’s spoils once before and wanted to bask in the warm glow of the winner’s circle for a second time. Meanwhile, the other three other players were seeking their first win. Would we see a two-time champ, or a first timer?

This came down to Chile’s Nicolas ‘chilenocl’ Yunis (TCOOP and 2016 SCOOP winner) versus Poland’s Sphinx87 (Super Tuesday winner). chilenocl only needed three hands to put away his opponent. Sphinx87 busted in second place and Nicolas ‘chilenocl’ Yunis won the Shootout. This win in Event #47-H makes it at least two SCOOPs and 3 overall COOPs for Nicolas ‘chilenocl’ Yunis.

ROLL RIGHT STONES: Yeezus4Pres eliminated in 6th place

Heading into Level 3, Yeezus4Pres lost over 2/3 of a starting stack. Yeezus4Pres and Kekkhou (with a Donald Trump avatar) decided it was time for a run off. Yeezus4Pres got it all in on the turn. The board read K♠J♦10♣2♦. Yeezus4Pres shoved with A♦A♥. Kekkhou called with with K♦9♦, holding top pair and a flush draw. The river was the 9♥. Kekkhou rivered two pair to win the pot… and the election. Yeezus4Pres became the first player to bust at the final table. Sixth place paid out $17,040.00. With five remaining, Kekkhou led with 15K.

EVENING BLUE: bigfox86 eliminated in 5th place

In the middle of Level 5, we lost a second player. bigfox86 lost majority of his stack losing a 6.1K pot against chilenocl. Two hands later, he picked a spot to double up… but missed when his A♦Q♣ got run down by 1_conor_b_1’s A♣J♠. Bloody Jack of hearts on the river was a heartbreaker for bigfox86. _conor_b_1 dragged the pot and bigfox86 busted in fifth place, which paid out $25,560.00.

With four remaining… _conor_b_1 seized the lead with 19.1K, followed by Sphinx87’s 18.6M, chilenocl’s 12.5M, and Kekkhou’s 9.7K. _conor_b_1’s time in the top spot did not last long before the pack swallowed him up.

TRAGIC MAGIC: 1_conor_b_1 eliminated in 4th place

Two more levels played out before someone exited stage left. 1_conor_b_1 four-bet shoved for 11,910 with 7♦7♠ and chilenocl called with 9♠9♥. Nones held up and chilenocl won the pot. 1_conor_b_1 was knocked out in fourth place, which paid out $34,080.00.

Fourth place for 1_conor_b_1

With three left in the hunt, chilenocl led with 35K and both opponents held approximately 12.5K. Action was paused to discuss a deal. The numbers were floated, with $6K on the table for the winner… chilenocl $77,491.03, Sphinx97 $64,674.76, Kekkhou $59,935.21. chilenocl quickly shot it down. “No deal.” Without a deal in place, action resumed.

(SOMETIMES I FEEL SO) UNINSPIRED: Kekkhou eliminated in 3rd place

Big-stacked bully chilenocl opened to 1,500, Kekkhou bombed it all-in for 8,420 with K♦6♥ and chilenocl called with A♣Q♠. The board ran out J♠10♠2♣8♥9♥. chilenocl rivered a Queen-high straight to win the pot. Kekkhou failed to make poker great again and went broke in third place, earning $48,990.00.

HEADS-UP: chilenocl (Chile) vs. Sphinx87 (Poland)
Seat 3: chilenocl (41,279)
Seat 4: Sphinx87 (18,721)

With two to go, chilenocl held 2/3 of the chips in play.

SHOOT OUT AT THE FANTASY FACTORY: Sphinx87 eliminated in 2nd place; chilenocl wins Shootout!

Three hands. chilenocl won all three. The first one seemed modest at 4.7K. The second one was near fatal at 15.8K. The last one was the money shot. Sphinx87, down to 8.4K, made a final stand with K♠3♥ against chilenocl’s 9♠9♥. Sphinx87 flopped a pair of treys, but that’s as good as it would get. chilenocl’s pocket nines held up. Sphinx87 was dunzo, and chilenocl binked the tournament. For a runner-up finish, Sphinx87 earned $65,391.00.

Congrats to Nicolas ‘chilenocl’ Yunis. He’s won at least 3 total COOPs including his second SCOOP. First place in this Shootout paid out $93,720.00.
