It was an uphill battle for Rino2016192.

The Romanian player started the final table fourth in chips and a non-existent amount of experience in high stakes tournaments. Before today, Rino2016192’s biggest buy-in was $200 and our champion’s largest cash was for $123.99.

Then Rino2016192 had a great run in this event and made a 6-handed final table with the likes of Lars “Dsavo” Bonding and etxnl01, who won the $2,100 NLHE Progressive Super-Knockout during last year’s SCOOP. That was about a month after etxnl01 won a $1,050 Progressive Super-Knockout and etxnl01 recently finished 3rd in SCOOP #19-M $530+R NLHE.

Today, etxnl01 started the final table of the 1,111-player event with a large lead and the largest bounty. etxnl01 lived up to the reputation of K.O. killer and dealt four of the five eliminations at the final table.

The last elimination, of course, was courtesy of Rino2016, who took the lead three-handed and managed to hold on to it and win $46,523.55 plus $12,810.50 in bounties.

tomasko66 – $5,462.87
julz1833 – $5,320.30
Lars “Dsavo” Bonding – $3,917.96

In an attempt to knock out players, etxnl01 ended up doubling a few of players and dipping to 2.3 million –giving Lars “Dsavo” Bonding the lead– before scoring a knockout.

spwipp had just lost the majority of his chips after getting counterfeited on the river. spwipp then moved all-in with A♠ K♦ a few hands later and both Rino2016192 and etxnl01 called. etxnl01 had Q♦ 4♥ and hit two queens on the flop. etxnl01 bet Rino2016192 out of the pot and scored the first K.O. of the final table.

Then julz1833 fell. julz1833 moved in with 10♦ 10♣ and etxnl01 called with Aâ™  8♣ . etxnl01 hit an 8 on the flop and another on the river. etxnl01’s bounty grew by a couple thousand and then it grew again.

Lars “Dsavo” Bonding moved all-in for 1.6 million from under the gun and etxnl01 re-jammed for 3.9 million from the small blind. Rino2016192 folded from the big blind and we had another showdown.

Bonding: A♥ 10♥
etxnl01: A♣ K♦

etxnl01 was in the lead and the 8♦ 6♠ 2♦ A♠ 6♣ board gave the Dutch K.O. champion another knockout.

Rino2016192 rises

etxnl01 had a few dips throughout the tournament and became the short stack during three-handed play. At one point, tomasko66 had the lead with 5.3 million and moved all-in when etxnl01 raised from under the gun. etxnl01 called all-in for 3.3 million and showed A♣ J♣ to tomasko66’s A♦ K♥ .

etxnl01 hit a jack on the turn and retook the lead with 6.7 million while tomasko66 dipped to 2.0 million.

Then Rino2016192 doubled through etxnl01 and took the lead. etxnl01 jammed from the small blind and Rino2016192 called all-in for 3.0 million. Rino2016192 turned over pocket 6s while Rino2016192 had pocket 10s. There was a 10 on the flop and a double for Rino2016192.

Rino2016192 took the lead with 6.2 million while etxnl01 dipped to 3.1 million.

etxnl01 then closed the gap a little with another elimination. tomasko66 moved all-in for 2 million just four hands later and etxnl01 called. etxnl01 turned over K♠ 6♠ and tomasko66 tabled J♦ 10♦ .

The 3â™  5â™  7â™  flop left tomasko66 drawing dead and etxnl01 won another bounty. etxnl01 had accumulated $23,230.38 in bounties by this point, nearly as much as the $25,386.25 payday that tomasko66 got for finishing 3rd.

Rino2016192’s bounty on the other hand was just $1,195.31.

Rino2016192 did have the chip lead though –6.2 million to etxnl01’s 4.9 million– and the final knockout increased our champion’s bounty by a factor of 10.

The heads-up match ended fairly quick. etxl01 got dealt A♠ Q♣ and raised to 294,000 from the button. Rino2016192 three-bet with A♥ K♦ and etxnl01 re-raised all-in for 4.4 million. Rino2016192 called and the final board ran 9♣ 5♥ 4♦ 6♥ 4♠ .

etxnl01 was denied a second SCOOP title in a Progressive K.O. tournament while Rino2016192 won it all.
