Okay. We knew the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker was going to be popular. With buy-ins for every bankroll, it was bound to draw crowds. Still, until just a couple of hours ago, we just didn’t know how popular it was going to be.

One word pretty much sums it up: wow.

Here’s what the field sizes look like on just the first day of action.

Event #1: Six-max No-Limit Hold’em

$5.50 buy-in: 27,134
$55 buy-in: 4,057
$550 buy-in: 672

Event #2: Pot-limit Omaha High-Low

$11 buy-in: 7,622
$108 buy-in: 2,104
$1,050 buy-in: 327

That’s nearly 50,000 buy-ins on Day 1 of a brand new event. If you think this is just going to be a flash in the pan, I’d say think again.

Keep it tuned to the PokerStars Blog for recaps of every final table. Also, if you take a peek below, you will notice PokerStars.tv is gearing up for some highlight shows. Tune your dial that way for the best in online poker television.
