Home / News / Simon “C. Darwin2″ Mattsson wins KO Sunday Million, Jonah Silverstein notches two HRC victories in one night

With SCOOP 2021 completed, the PokerStars schedule resumed with some normality this weekend – albeit with an added twist. Ten tourneys took on a special format in KO Sunday, including the Sunday Million. The High Roller Club also provided plenty of action. Here are the highlights:

  • Simon Mattsson wins KO Sunday Million
  • Two wins in one night for Jonah Silverstein
  • Anjeyyy and Rui Ferreira among HRC winners
  • Plus, KO Sunday highlights

Simon Mattsson wins KO Sunday Million: The special edition Sunday Million reached a prize pool of over $1.62 million, with half the pot going to bounties. With 16,228 entries, it could have been anyone’s game, but one player in particular had his eyes on the prize. Simon “C. Darwin2” Mattson won the Millie after battling Bosnian player “MISTERxxx404” heads-up. Mattson earned over $60k for first, as well as $38k in bounties, to make a final score of $98,613. That’s a first Sunday Million title for the top ranked Swedish pro, who had an excellent run in SCOOP 2021 (two titles and two runner-up finishes) and now has over $17.5 million in online cashes.

Double for Jonah Silverstein: Jonah “RaiseUpBlind” Silverstein had an excellent run in SCOOP 2021, winning a title, three second place finishes, and coming third in the High leaderboard. You might have expected Silverstein to have a week off following such an intense slog. Not the case. Instead, he carried right on with a dominant display in the High Roller Club, picking up two first place wins in one night. Silverstein won the $1,050 Sunday Warm-Up for $18,623, then followed up with first place in the $1,050 KO Sunday Supersonic for a total of $28,337. An awesome weekend for the Canadian pro and a testament to his commitment to poker.

After a surprisingly quiet SCOOP, Rui Ferreira claims HRC Sunday Cooldown win

Anjeyyy and Rui Ferreira among winners in HRC: Among the winners in the HRC this weekend were Ukrainian pro “Anjeyyy” and top ranked Brazilian Rui “RuiNF” Ferreira. Anjeyyy won the $530 Bounty Builder HR (also part of the KO Sunday schedule) for $50k plus $38k bounties – a total of $51,313. Anjeyyy also made the final table of the Sunday HR, but was first to exit. “ACNRULES” from Canada won that one for $53,063. Brazilian pro Rui “RuiNF” Ferreira picked up his HRC win in the $1,050 Sunday Cooldown, earning a total of $23,903.

Epic prizes in KO Sunday: KO Sunday yielded epic prizes in smaller events. After some success in small stakes MTTs years ago, Brazilian player “overyde” returned to the tables and found winning form in the $11 KO Sunday Storm. Overyde earned entry via a $3.75 satellite and went on to win the event for a total of $18,181, a 4,847% return on their buy-in. “NBU FOREVER” of Uzbekistan won the $22 KO Mini Sunday Million for a total of $25,581. Luan “PseudoFruto” Felipe won the $215 Sunday Warm-Up for $25,044.
