The special edition Sunday Million hit an insane prize pool of $1.7 million this weekend, and the 50/50 Series concluded with a high value Main Event. We bring you the stories from both of those tournaments, along with intriguing poker results and highlights from the Sunday major schedule.

The ups and downs of an epic Sunday Million final table

This weekend’s Sunday Million was a special edition two-day event which reverted back to the original $215 buy-in. The tournament proved a success, with 8,906 entries creating an insane prize pool of over $1.7 million.

By the time the Sunday Million was down to 27 players, a Canada-based player called “SmartAcesGuy” seemed to be on track for the win. However, they couldn’t hold their lead, and crashed out in 16th.

By that time three players had emerged as steady leaders; “Edison82” of Brazil, two-time WCOOP champ Silvio “silskyer” Costa, and “WhatUm Sanka” of the UK.

WhatUm Sanka fell away in 10th and Silvio Costa was first off the final table. Edison82 managed to keep up the pace and, after wrestling for the lead with competitors like UK player “PokerDave476”, who bagged a Sunday Million back in 2019, found himself with a solid chip lead and three players remaining.

After a bit of back and forth and a smoothing of the stacks, those players opted for a deal on fairly even terms, choosing to play it out for the enormous bounties still there for the taking. “rezdavid” of Hungary finished third for a total of $98,619, “hattie009” of the UK finished second for $93,691.

Edison82, the player who seemed solid throughout most of the final table, won the heads-up bout to claim the final bounty and a total of $144,177.

50/50 Series concludes with huge Main Event

The 50/50 Series concluded with the Main Event, which also went down very well, cruising beyond the guarantee to offer a prize pool of $1.29 million.

Again, it looked like one competitor in particular had a hold on the tourney by the time the field had whittled down to 27 players. “LilBigKahuna” from Estonia held a decent chip lead around this time, but narrowly missed out on the final table, and was quickly followed by German player “paddel1896” who was first off in 8th.

The final table chip stacks were shallower and more even in the 50/50 Main Event than they were in the Sunday Million, and yet the pay jumps were huge, so dynamics were naturally tight and gameplay more predictable.

After Russian pro “Kot_Spartac” crashed out in 4th, the remaining three players again opted for the less rocky road and made a deal. “shkolota1488”of Belarus had by far the greatest stack, and so took more from the split before taking down the tourney for a total of $116,625.

Elsewhere this weekend…

Spraggy came third in the 50/50 Series Sunday Marathon

Also of note in the 50/50 Series this weekend was Spraggy’s third place finish in the Sunday Marathon during his marathon streaming session. We’re sure you’ll here more about that in the upcoming Twitch Poker Tribune. “PTStar86” from the Netherlands went on to win the tourney for $33,096.

The micro stakes tourneys are often overshadowed by the bigger events, but one final table in particular caught out eye this weekend. Eight out of nine of the final table players in the $5.50 Mini Sunday Stack were playing out of Brazil. “xricks” from Canada was the only non-Brazilian player, and they crashed in 8th place. “SantaVariacia”, which I’m going to assume translates to St. Variance, took it down for $1,890.

Consistency is key, and the top guys in the High Roller Club prove it. “Uivelo88” from Finland is on a roll, last week overcoming tough opposition to take down the $1,050 Sunday Cooldown. This week they came first in the $215 Fat Sunday for $11,551.

As one of the High Roller Club’s biggest weekly tourneys, the $1050 Sunday HR rarely goes under the radar. Top pros Niklas “Lena900” Astedt and Yuri “TheNERDguy” Martins made it to fourth and third place, respectively, and “DaanOss” of Austria came second. “APonakov” came out the eventual winner for $57,262.
