Several players hunting for the Sunday Warm-Up title during the late goings have been here before. Fourth place, fifth place, sixth place, but not that coveted top spot of this $500,000 guarantee Sunday Major. vip25459 was able to put that past near-miss to rest after defeating a field of 3,181 players while earning $99,884.21 for the win.

Read below on how vip25459 took it down.

With two tables remaining after nine hours of play, RZA4444 was looking to surpass a couple of late runs in WCOOP and SCOOP tournaments to take away the $99,884.21 sitting up top. RZA4444 has come close a couple of times to notching a major title here at PokerStars with a sixth place during SCOOP 2013’s Event #28-H and another sixth place at last year’s WCOOP Event #48.

A pair of Sunday Warm-Up veterans still in with 15 players left looked to surpass their previous fifth place finishes. vip25459 was looking for a better result after taking fifth (earning $25K) in May while 4QuietSTorm4 did the same in June also earning $25K.

Keith “Kungfumonk” Johnson took down the $215 Sunday 2nd Chance for $43,272 in July 2013 would have average chips shortly after RZA4444’s departure in 14th place.

One player still remaining would have a chance to become a two-time Sunday Warm-Up champ. Pendos90 won this tournament back in November 2011, chopping three-ways for $91K. More recently, Pendos90 took (a seemingly popular) fifth place in the Sunday Warm-Up two months ago.

Unfortunately, Pendos90 would be involved with the last hand before the final table. With the blinds up to 80K/160K ante 16K Pendos90 would shove for 1.4 million from the cutoff as 10johan6 re-shoved for 4.1 million from the button holding pocket queens Q♦ Q♥ . Pendos90’s 8♥ A♣ would miss the overcard and a turned straight draw 4♦ 4â™  5♣ 7♣ 2♦ starting up the final table below:

Seat 1: 4QuietSTorm4 (4132397 in chips)
Seat 2: random_chu (3667292 in chips)
Seat 3: Kungfumonk (1488032 in chips)
Seat 4: yoz2k11 (1332466 in chips)
Seat 5: jusc (3197023 in chips)
Seat 6: Tonyfish77 (3746490 in chips)
Seat 7: vip25459 (5794225 in chips)
Seat 8: elliottpet (2554965 in chips)
Seat 9: 10johan6 (5897110 in chips)

The second hand back from the tenth hourly proved to be the last for yoz2K11. With the blinds up to 100K/200K ante 20K yoz2k11 would raise all-in for 1.75 million as elliottpet re-shoved for 2.86 million chips with A♥ 10♣ . No love for yoz2k11’s Kâ™  Q♦ on the 10â™  2♦ 9♣ 5♥ 9â™  board, finishing the day in ninth place ($5,089.60).

Shortly after yoz2K11’s departure, jusc would be the next to go. After losing a tough hand worth five million tournament chips to Keith “Kungfumonk” Johnson, three hands later jusc saw the remaining 588K in chips slide over to elliottpet while collecting $7,952.50 in eighth place.

Thunder silenced

4QuietSTorm4 was looking tonight to improve on a previous fifth place finish in this tournament, but ended short of the mark. With the blinds up to 150K/300K ante 30K 4QuietSTorm4 would shove for 1.95 million while random_chu three-bet to 4.63 million with jacks J♥ J♦ . Big slick K♠ A♥ would not win the flip 4♦ 5♣ 2♣ 9♦ 10♣ sending 4QuietSTorm4 out in seventh place ($14,314.50).

Five hands later Johnson would send 10johan6 to the rail in sixth place ($20,676.50). But, he was not able to hold on to those chips.

In a flurry of big hands, seven hands later Johnson would min-raise from the button as vip25459 would shove for 10.2 million. Holding 6.8 million chips behind and A♥ Q♣ Kungfumonk would make the call. Things looked great for Johnson as vip25459 showed A♣ 10♦ until a ten hit the turn J♣ 2â™  4♣ 10♣ 8♥ sending Keith “Kungfumonk” Johnson away in fifth place ($27,038.50).

It seemed like vip25459’s tournament to lose at this point owning 18.8 million of the 30 million chips in play. random_chu still wanted a shot at winning and took out elliottpet in fourth place ($36,581.50) while building up a stack of nearly 10 million chips.

Five minutes later random_chu was one player away from getting the Sunday Warm-Up title that was missed back in January last year after taking fourth for $41K. Holding 5♠ A♦ random_chu shoved from the small blind as shortstacked Tonyfish77 made the call all-in with K♦ 5♦ . No kings on the 9♣ 7♥ 9♥ 3♥ A♥ board as Tonyfish77 earned $52,486.50 in third place.

No chop in place meant the winner would get nearly six figures. vip25459 would get the win that was missed in May. After gaining a chip advantage of 25.6 million to 6.1 million, vip25459 would insta-call the shove by random_chu holding A♦ J♥ . random_chu flipped up the dominated 5♦ A♥ as both would pair their kickers on the J♣ 5♠ 6♣ 3♠ 4♣ board.

We’ll call it a (near) six-figure win as vip25459 claims this week’s Sunday Warm-Up and $99,884.21!
