If dragons and knights are more your speed, the new Game of Thrones season kicked off right about the time the final nine of the $500,000 guarantee Sunday Warm-Up sat down. The last hand before the ninth hourly break Stephen “stevie444” Chidwick, the 2013 WCOOP Event #29 champ, was drawing his last breath of this tournament. After an all-in with antevante went the wrong way on the river, Chidwick hoped for a little magic with 10♥ 2♦ . TMoney0209 made the call with the dominating 10♣ Q♦ and made a bigger straight on the 8♥ J♣ 9♣ 7♣ 4♦ board, knocking out the bracelet winner in 15th place ($2,743.60).

TMoney0209 was looking to add yet another major final table, last making a final table in TCOOP 2015’s Event #44 taking eighth place. However, TMoney0209 tried to open shove 7♣ 9♦ from the small blind only to have joaombrito find pocket kings K♥ K♠ in the big blind. No help on the A♥ 10♦ 6♠ 10♥ 10♠ board and TMoney0209 would finish in 11th place ($3,610.00).

joaombrito was looking to use those chips for a return to the Sunday Warm-Up final table, taking a runner-up finish here last time. After acquiring chips from TMoney0209, joaombrito would lose many of them to bajen1999. Down to 490,400 chips and blinds at 65K/130K ante 13K joaombrito would push from the cutoff with J♣ 7♣ as WCOOP 2010 Event #5 champ J0hnny_Dr@m@ called with 3♠ A♣ . Only one club and no jacks nor sevens on the K♠ 6♦ K♣ 3♥ 10♠ board sent joaombrito off in 10th place ($3,610.00).

That burst the final table bubble but on the other table CONCRETE1990 was all-in as well. CONCRETE1990 was short stacked with under a million chips and decided to shove from the button also holding jack-seven 7♥ J♥ . This proved an unlucky hand at the final table bubble as Salsicha called with A♣ 8♠ which held on the 8♥ 9♥ A♦ 5♦ J♦ board to start up the shortened final table.

The exciting action from the double-elimination did not stop after the spotlights came up on the final table. On the second hand Salsicha would min-raise from middle position as Geshpanec538 shoved from the big blind for 1.83 million. Salsicha’s pocket eights 8♣ 8♦ would sweep out Geshpanec538’s sixes 6♠ 6♥ on the A♣ K♦ A♥ 7♥ 7♦ board sending $7,809.15 to Geshpanec538 in eighth place.

Briefly after the blinds moved up to 80K/160K ante 16K Alexis “J0hnny_Dr@m@” Zervos was hoping to make the best of this trip to the Sunday Warm-Up final table after taking seventh here just last month. Zervos would try to acquire some easy blinds by open shoving from the small blind with A♣ 6♥ . But, antesvante was waiting with A♠ J♠ making the call and holding on the 9♦ 4♦ 7♦ 7♠ A♦ board to send Zervos out again in seventh place ($13,573.60).

The fast action would give away to a grind as all seven remaining players reached the tenth hourly break. Once the five minute reprieve finished up the players jumped right back into action.

Aguskb was looking to become a two-time Sunday Warm-Up champ but left with just over a million chips and blinds at 100K/200K ante 20K. Antesvante at the other end of the chip spectrum with 8.7 million, shoved from the button with 5♥ A♣ . Aguskb had a chance to get back into the tournament calling with A♦ 6♠ but the board dropped a five on the 4♣ J♠ 5♦ J♥ 10♣ flop ending Aguskb’s tournament in sixth place ($19,349.60).

Antesvante would roll up 12.5 million in chips but ten minutes after knocking out Aguskb, the chip leader would give up a massive 16 million double-up to Mastercard1. The next hand antesvante brushed off the temporary setback finding aces to take Salsicha’s stack. Salsicha would receive $25,125.60 in fifth place.

Keeping up the fast paces towards the ending, five minutes later there would only be three left. Mastercard1’s credit limit would increase as the chip leader shoved from the button and dasman13 called all-in with K♦ Q♥ . Mastercard1’s 9♥ 10♣ would find a nine on the turn 4♠ 7♣ 6♦ 9♠ 5♦ as dasman13 found $33,212.00 in fourth place. Seems like everyone at the final table brought previous cred as dasman13 nearly matched a runner-up finish here last month.

Three minutes later with Mastercard1 now holding 20 million chips and towering over antesvante’s 3.5 million and bajen1999 4.9 million, the chip leader’s stack would grow even more. Mastercard1 would continue the big stack play, open shoving from the button with 4♥ K♥ . Antesvante would step up to the plate, making the call with J♥ A♥ . Both players would find a pair on the J♣ K♠ 8♠ 5♠ 8♦ board as antesvante stepped off the stage in third place ($48,518.40).

Could a former Sunday Million champ pull off a victory with such a large chip deficit?

The answer was no.

Mastercard1’s lead was too big as the chip leader would win seven out of eight of the heads-up hands. With the lead extended to 25.2 million to 3.3 million Mastercard1 continued to push by shoving from the button as bajen1999 had enough of being bullied and made the call with K♥ 10♥ . Mastercard1’s ace A♠ 5♥ would dance across the Q♠ Q♦ 9♦ 4♣ 3♥ board to win $90,972.74 and this week’s Sunday Warm-Up title!
