Sunday Warm-Up logo NEW.PNG

For the second straight week, the players got a bit greedy. Who can blame a person wanting $88,925.24 all to themselves as a shot for this kind of money does not happen every day unless you are someone with a massive bankroll playing high stakes open faced Chinese Poker on a plane with other degenerates or perhaps more traditional cash games like the ones found under the “high” tab in the PokerStars lobby. Tonight’s $500,000 guarantee Sunday Warm-Up 2,823 found $215 to take a shot at an $88K win but $564,600.00 would be spread out among 414 lucky (and perhaps unlucky) players.

At the end of hour eight 31 players still held chips including Stephen “stevie444” Chidwick with several deep 2012 SCOOP runs including a final table bubble in Event #31-H and Team PokerStars Pro Marcin “Goral” Horecki. Both players would need some help in the upcoming hour to reach the final table with blinds sitting at 20K/40K ante 4K and holding 200,000 and 500,000 chips respectively. Chidwich would only last three minutes into eighth hour of play collecting $1,355.04 in 28th place.

Ten minutes later Horecki would catch a bluffer in the blinds but ending taking a nasty beat instead. With the blinds still at 20K/40K ante 4K and the hand folding around to kfaxMTL in the small blind who opened shoved for 421,180 chips. Marcin in the big blind took a couple looks at 10♣ Q♣ and decided to call for almost all his chips. The J♠ 9♣ 10♦ flop heavily favored the Polish pro. However, the 9♠ opened a small flush-sized window, through which the Q♠ landed on the board to give kfaxMTL the unlikely flush holding 5♠ 4♠ . The very next hand Marcin tossed in his remaining 43,411 chips getting knocked out officially by them3ntalist earning $1,552.64 in 21st place.

Marcin Horecki 21st place

After losing 18 players during hour eight, 13 runners were left including 2011 WCOOP Event #23 runner-up Da3dalus who will get another shot at that title in about a month from now. Quick eliminations of soad_live, AATopgun, and them3ntalist would get us down to hand-for-hand play which also took about as long as the Jamaican team to finish the 4X100 meter relay. With the blinds at 50K/100K ante 10K Porvu_vseh would min raise from the hijack seat as tassen1 shoved for 1.7 million in the small blind. Holding nearly three million behind and pocket nines 9♥ 9♠ Porvu_vseh took a few seconds before making the call. Pocket eights 8♣ 8♥ were revealed by tassen1 who could not find a third eight on the 6♣ 2♥ Q♣ 3♥ 7♠ board setting up the final table below:

Seat 4: Porvu_vseh (5122776 in chips)
Seat 5: PSMozak (2509157 in chips)
Seat 6: OhRaisyDaisy (2451502 in chips)

Seat 8: zivziv (3052233 in chips)
Seat 9: jmiami36 (1118265 in chips)

Score one for Israel

zivziv, no stranger to high stakes-big time final tables as seen from last year’s SCOOP Event #34-H earning $25,000 after taking sixth place was flying Israel’s flag tonight would get into it with PSMozak on the final table’s fourth hand. The blinds still at 50K/100K ante 10K and PSMozak led out for a min-raise as zivziv three-bet to 500,000 from the small blind. Holding Q♦ A♥ PSMozak shoved for 2.4 million total as zivziv made the call with 10♥ A♦ . Dominated before the flop, not so much afterwards as a ten hit the Jâ™  10â™  7♦ 5â™  A♣ board and PSMozak got a rude ejection from the final table in ninth place ($4,799.10). A second trip to the Sunday Warm-up final table, PSMozak was not able to better a seventh place showing last year.

Suckout theme tonight?

As the blinds moved up to 65K/130K ante 13K Supernova jmiami36 needed chips with just 1.09 million and open shoved from the button holding 9♣ A♥ . Next door HustlaStylez was waiting to call with a slightly smaller ace 6♥ A♣ . Unless the previous knockout hand, the three-outer would wait until the river to appear this time K♠ 5♠ 10♥ 2♥ 6♣ as jmiami36 cashed out in eighth place ($7,633.39).

Underdog wins again

Moving through an entire blind level with no eliminations, the 100K/200K ante 20K level would not prove to be as kind. Check out the video below as yet another underdog would eliminate someone:

HustlaStylez, recipient of the last three-outer, would take pocket queens Q♣ Qâ™  against Da3dalus’ Aâ™  Jâ™  for a 3.77 million chip pot. The Ace wasted no time appearing on the door A♥ 9â™  8♥ 5â™  J♥ as HustlaStylez, fresh off taking runner-up in the Sunday Tuesday last month for $54K would collect seventh place tonight ($13,268.10).

zivziv zoomzoom

Still in the 100K/200K ante 20K blind level, Porvu_vseh holding just 1.59 million chips took a chance to collect some easy chips by open shoving from the hijack seat. Folded to the zivziv in small blind holding 9♠ A♣ the chip leader reshoved to cause Da3dalus to fold quickly. Porvu_vseh testing the early theme of the final table showed 4♠ 7♠ . A four on the door caused some concern, until the card behind it revealed a nine 4♣ 9♣ Q♦ 2♠ A♥ and Porvu_vseh was out in sixth place ($18,914.10).

The favorite wins twice in row!

Shortly after the blinds moved up to 125K/250K ante 25K a big three-way all-in would break out between surud, Da3dalus, and Kihlström. Check out the video below to see who came away with nine million chips and who was forced to take home fifth place cash.

Kihlström on the shortstack shoved for 2.58 million as Da3dalus re-shoved for 4.1 million chips. In the small blind surud made the very easy call holding 2.9 million.

Da3dalus:9♦ 9♠
surud:A♦ A♣
Kihlström:J♦ Q♦

surud’s aces made it across the 10♣ Q♥ 6♦ 2♥ 4♥ board easily enough as Kihlström locked up fifth place cash ($24,560.10).

No slowing down

Just two hands later zivziv, still holding on to the chip lead with over 12 million to surud’s newly found collection of chips, would pressure the big blind a bit with a shove from the small blind. Holding 2.1 million as a result from losing that three-way hand, Da3dalus would make the call holding a suited ace A♦ 7♦ . Temporarly ahead of zivziv’s J♥ Q♣ , Da3dalus already won one all-in against the chip leader. Sadly, Da3dalus would not make it two in a row as a queen hit the 4♣ 3♦ Qâ™  3♥ 4♦ board ending Da3dalus’ night in fourth place ($32,464.50).

No more raising for Daisy

A short while longer still in the 125K/250K ante 25K blind level, OhRaisyDaisy, down to 2.7 million left got a squeeze from surud who shoved from the small blind. Holding a small ace A♦ 4♣ OhRaisyDaisy made the call. surud flipped up 9♥ K♣ and both players watched the nine drop in the middle of the 10♦ 9♣ 6♦ flop. Add a pair of threes 3♥ 3â™  on the end of the board and six million chips headed into surud’s stack as OhRaisyDaisy rose to the occasion and took away $47,426.40 in third place. A fixture to the Sunday Majors, OhraisyDaisy has entire page of Sunday final tables including winning the $215 Stud Hi/Low last week.

Should have taken the deal

surud “deal or still not? :)”

surud offered the hand to make a deal that would have favored the chip leading zivziv (17.5 million to 10.7 million) but no was the answer after the very first hand of heads-up play. The two would battle for over 20 minutes.

zivziv started with a tear of hands but it would be surud who would get hot at the end. With the blinds at 200K/400K ante 40K surud would extract maximum value off flopped trip jacks earning a 12 million chip pot pushing the chip lead to 24.4 million to 3.7 million.

zivziv would earn a quick double up on the next hand after the Israeli found an eight on the river 2♦ 10â™  3â™  7â™  8♦ holding Jâ™  8♣ against surud’s pocket fours 4♣ 4♥ extending the match for four more hands.

All four of those hands would go to surud including the final hand of the tournament shown below:

After trading min-raises, both players got their chips in the middle. surud holding J♣ 10♥ and zivziv with the small ace A♦ 4â™  . Two more tens would show up K♣ 9â™  10♣ 9♥ 10â™  as surud collected the final 9.2 million tournament chips turning them into $88,925.24 in real cash as this week’s Sunday Warm-Up champion!
