Home / Uncategorized / Super Tuesday: theonejlle tops three-way deal for $49K (7-18-17)

A newly flush bankroll can open up all sorts of new paths for a determined poker player. Just ask theonejlle. Late last year the Brazilian player was a relatively small-time grinder, playing tournaments with buy-ins in the single digits. A final table cash worth a few thousand dollars two weeks ago gave theonejlle a chance to play higher, which itself led to a few more four-figure cashes. There’s no telling where all those new opportunities will lead in the future, but for now, after half a day of poker against top-flight competition, theonejlle is enjoying the thrill of victory as a Super Tuesday champion.

theonejlle entered this week’s final table as the leader after nursing the lead for an hour beforehand. That didn’t make the victory easy, though. That stack mostly served as a cushion against early losses, providing a jumping-off point for the late game after some of the other players had found their way to the rail.

Seat 1: theonejlle (1,310,663 in chips)
Seat 2: Tim “1BigAceHole” Ulmer (417,512 in chips)
Seat 3: Darko XYZ2 (1,023,857 in chips)
Seat 4: Witalii (905,828 in chips)
Seat 5: Scott “Aggro Santos” Margereson (869,160 in chips)
Seat 6: cskar4e1 (292,319 in chips)
Seat 7: josef_shvejk (240,235 in chips)
Seat 8: 22ehnutzz (1,264,027 in chips)
Seat 9: TanTanSWE (851,399 in chips)

Germany’s Darko XYZ2 came to the final table with the second largest chip stack but lost about half of it early on against theonjlle, folding after getting check-raised on the 3♣ 4♦ J♥ flop. Picking up A♣ Kâ™  against cskar4e1’s A♥ Q♣ a few hands later kept Dark XYZ2 in the game but a clash with TanTanSWE, who was returning to the final table after finishing fourth in the 6/20/17 Super Tuesday, didn’t end as well. Darko XYZ2 called a min-raise in the big blind with Kâ™  4â™  and then check-raised all-in for 480,906 chips after the flop came 7â™  Qâ™  8♥ . TanTanSWE quickly called with 8♣ 7♣ for two pair, which held up on the J♦ turn and 2♦ river to eliminate Darko XYZ2 in ninth.

The next three short stacks to go all-in survived – Witalii with Aâ™  A♦ to Aggro Santos’s 5♦ 5â™  , past SCOOP and TCOOP champion Tim “1BigAceHole” Ulmer with 8♣ 8â™  against TanTanSWE’s would-be blind stealer 5♣ 3♣ , and then josef_shvejk with Aâ™  J♦ against 1BigAceHole’s 8♣ 8â™  . That set the stage for two of the biggest stacks at the table to clash with pocket pairs a few hands afterward. TanTanSWE opened the action with a small raise to 71,400 chips, holding 10♣ 10â™  , and then moved all-in for 1.1 million after Witalii re-raised to 192,350 on the button. Witalii called with Q♣ Qâ™  , which held up after the board came 9♥ 5â™  A♥ 5♦ 2♣ to end TanTanSWE’s tournament in eighth.

1BigAceHole managed a desperate double-up a few hands after that with Q♣ Q♦ , which topped cskar4e1’s 10â™  10♣ in the small blind for a 401,812-chip pot. But another pair in the hole spelled the end for him six hands later. He opened the action all-in for 293,312 chips in the cutoff seat with J♣ Jâ™  and got action from Witalii, who raised to isolate on the button with A♥ 3♥ and hit a near-perfect flop of 10♥ 6♥ A♣ . The aces held up aft erhte 2♣ turn and 9♦ river, sending 1BigAceHole to the rail in seventh.

cskar4e1 followed four hands later after opening the action all-in for 338,312 chips in the hijack seat with A♠ 10♦ . theonejlle called with K♦ Q♣ in the small blind and made top two pair on the 7♥ Q♥ 2♠ K♥ 3♦ board to eliminate cskar4e1 in sixth.

Past Sunday Million and double WCOOP winner Scott “Aggro Santos” Margereson was still hanging on with 11 big blinds, which he doubled by flopping two pair with Aâ™  2♦ after Witalii opened all-in with 8♦ 4♣ from the small blind. josef_shvejk managed a double a few hands later, too, after opening all-in with A♦ 9♦ and catching the 9♣ on the flop to top the 8â™  8♥ of Gustavo “22ehnutzz” Mastelotto.

22ehnutzz, who was appearing at his second major final of this week after finishing ninth in the Sunday Million two days ago, looked likely to be the next out but managed to hang on by stealing the blinds and antes. Then josef_shvejk doubled to 1.18 million chips with K♦ K♥ , topping Aggro Santos’s 2♣ 2♦ to drop him to 159,076. He doubled once and then opened the action all-in for 268,152 chips with Qâ™  Jâ™  a few hands later. Three players called, including theonejlle, whose 7♥ 6♥ made three of a kind on the Kâ™  6♣ 6♦ A♥ 4♦ board to end Aggro Santos’s run in fifth.

Still on the short stack, 22ehnutzz opened the action all-in for 410,360 chips with A♣ 5♠ three hands later. Chip leader theonejlle called in the big blind with 7♣ 7♥ , which became a set on the flop and quads on the river of the 3♥ J♥ 7♦ 10♣ 7♠ board. With that, 22ehnutzz was out in fourth.

The remaining three players – theonejlle with 70 big blinds’ worth of chips, Witalii with 46, and josef_shvejk with 25 – paused play then to talk over a deal. They quickly agreed on the numbers and within minutes theonejlle was extending that chip lead at Witalii’s expense.

The Brazilian limped in from the small blind on one hand with 7♥ 4♥ , made top pair on the 2♦ 7♣ 5♦ , and made small bets there and also on the 10♣ turn and 8♣ river. Witalii called all the bets but mucked when theonejlle showed the pair of sevens for the 1.38-million-chip pot. theonejlle opened the next hand for 150,000 on the button, holding 10â™  8♣ , and called when Witalii moved in for 803,500 with K♣ 7♣ . Both players made pairs on the flop and theonejlle’s held up through the entirety of the 6♦ 8â™  7♥ A♣ Aâ™  board to eliminate Witalii in third.

The gave theonejlle 5.58 million chips and all the momentum as heads-up play began. josef_shvejk put a dent in the lead two hands in, moving all-in on the third bet to steal a 1.82-million-chip pot with a flop of 2♥ Q♥ J♣ on the table. There was now just one good pot’s difference between the two players’ stacks.

Seven hands later another chance to steal the pot presented itself on the turn, with 756,000 chips in the pot and the board reading 5♥ 7♦ 4♦ 9♣ . josef_shvejk, holding a pair of sevens and a draw to a nine-high straight with 8♥ 7â™  , moved all-in for 1.69 million chips over the top of theonejlle’s 378,000-chip bet. theonejlle called with 4â™  3♥ and 11.4-percent equity – and then promptly made two pair with the 3♣ on the river, bringing the tournament to its conclusion.

In addition to the title, theonejlle topped a previous top PokerStars cash of $7,191 set just two short weeks ago. Congratulations to the Brazilian on the big score – and to both of the Russian players who shared in the three-way deal, too!
