This week’s Super Tuesday final table kicked off with two past champions in the lineup. Both two-time winner Andreas “mrAndreeew” Berggren and 2015 champ Rebel FishAK had finished in second place in the Super Tuesday in recent weeks, too, adding some extra motivation to their quests for a repeat title. Both players were gone by the time the tournament was heads-up, though. Despite working at a disadvantage for most of the final table, Ferran789999 made the most of the unexpected opportunity, first striking a deal with chip leader Remi Lebo_10 and then mounting a late comeback for the biggest win of the Russian player’s career.

If anyone had been handicapping the match when the final table began, they surely would have listed Ferran789999 as a long-shot. Not only did Ferran789999 have the third-shortest stack, but chip leader Rebel FishAK – last week’s runner-up – had been at the top of the chip counts since the very first hour of the tournament and showed no signs of slowing down.

Rebel FishAK added to the incoming chip lead just a few hands in after raising with 9♣ 7♣ in the cutoff seat, checking behind on the J♠ 4♠ 8♥ flop, and turning a jack-high straight with the 10♣ . 2017 SCOOP-High finalist AppelKruimel, who had called from the big blind with Q♦ J♦ , led out there and Rebel FishAK just called; AppelKruimel shoved for 175,849 chips after the A♠ river and exited in ninth.

dulek_jason, a past Sunday Million runner-up who bubbled the final of this tournament back in January, fell 20 minutes later. The player from Poland opened the action all-in with A♥ 10♦ but couldn’t improve after Japan’s zakkkaz called with Aâ™  J♥ and left in eighth.

WCOOP 2011 Event #35 runner-up montjeu8 hadn’t won a big pot since the tournament still had two tables. The player from Lebanon looked to have found a way back in a few minutes after dulek_jason’s departure, turning a flush after defending the big blind with 10â™  4â™  , checking through a 6â™  7♣ 8â™  flop, and turning a flush with the Aâ™  . montjeu8 check-called original raiser Remi Lebo_10’s 97,860-chip bet there and then check-raised all-in for 457,281 after the 6♥ hit the flop. Remi Lebo_10, a past Sunday Warm-Up winner who last made the Super Tuesday final table in August 2015, called and showed down A♦ A♣ for aces full of sixes, though, sending montjeu8 to the rail in seventh.

The last major pot before the break at 11:55 p.m. ET involved Rebel FishAK and Andreas “mrAndreeew” Berggren, the two-time Super Tuesday champ who came up one spot short of a third title just four weeks ago. After watching his stack dwindle for the better part of the previous hour, he picked up A♦ K♦ in the big blind and moved all-in on what looked like a squeeze play, coming over the top of Ferran789999’s 77,000-chip button raise and Rebel FishAK’s re-raise to 209,999 in the small blind. Ferran789999 folded but Rebel FishAK called with A♥ 7♣ and made a pair of sevens on the river of the Jâ™  2â™  8♣ 4♥ 7♥ to end mrAndreeew’s latest final table run in sixth.

Rebel FishAK had a firm grip on the chip lead when play resumed with blinds and antes at 17,500/35,000/3,500, holding a 3.3-million-chip stack that was double the closest competitor’s. Ten minutes later that closest competitor, Remi Lebo_10, moved into the lead in a wild pot. The Ukrainian player opened the action on the button by moving all-in for 1.76 million with 6♦ 6♥ . ZeelandBoy, past finalist in SCOOP, WCOOP, and multiple Sunday majors, called for 1.16 million in the big blind with 4♣ 4â™  . ZeelandBoy made bottom set on the 4♦ 10♥ A♣ to take the lead, and then saw the pendulum swing back when the 6♣ hit the turn. The K♦ was no help at all on the river and ZeelandBoy left in fifth.

Winning that pot moved Remi Lebo_10 into the lead by about 10 big blinds. The only thing that changed over the next hour was the size of the Ukrainian player’s advantage over the other three players at the table. Most of the pots stayed small through that stretch. Those that didn’t generally found their way to Remi Lebo_10, though Ferran789999 did survive one crucial situation all-in for less than 10 big blinds with 9♦ 9♣ , flopping a set and dodging Remi Lebo_10’s gutshot straight draw.

By the time the next break rolled around, Remi Lebo_10 was over 4.8 million chips and nobody else at the table had as much as a million. The question was whether Remi Lebo_10 would run over the shorties or whether they would take each other on. The answer became the latter after zakkkaz opened all-in under the gun with Aâ™  6♥ and doubled up Ferran789999, who had A♥ J♦ on the button. Two hands later zakkkaz open-shoved for 541,178 chips with Jâ™  5â™  in the small blind; Ferran789999 called with A♦ 9â™  in the big, made the nut flush on the Q♥ 9♦ 7♦ K♦ 6♦ board, and ended zakkkaz’s tournament in fourth.

Ferran789999 finished clearing out the rest of the field five minutes later. The Russian player called with 236,562 chips behind and 4♣ 4♥ in the hole after Rebel FishAK open-shoved with A♦ 8♠ on the button. Nines and fours took the 2.1-million-chip pot and Rebel FishAK, finishing in the top three for the second straight week, bowed out in third.

Running off the other two short stacks gave Ferran789999 2.34 million chips to start heads-up play. That was worth 40 big blinds less than Remi Lebo_10’s 5.15 million chips, but it was more than enough to make a match after the two agreed to a deal that left $5,000 for the winner.

They split the pots almost equally over the first 15 minutes, at least in terms of total volume. Ferran789999 edged into a slight lead by earning the only seven-figure pots, all three of them without a showdown. They remained close for another 20 minutes, with the shorter stack pulling back into contention every time the bigger one looked ready to pull away. Then, minutes before the 1:55 a.m. ET break, Ferran789999 broke through.

After a raising war broke out before the flop and left the Russian player all-in with A♦ J♣ against Remi Lebo_10’s 8♦ 8♥ , the turn of the 4♦ Q♣ K♦ Aâ™  2♥ board made top pair to give Ferran789999 the 6.34-million-chip pot. Remi Lebo_10 managed two desperate double-ups in the next few minutes, first with K♣ 3♣ against A♦ 2♦ and then with 6♣ 6♥ against Kâ™  Q♦ , and then got in as close to even money as you can get with 9♦ 9â™  against Ferran789999’s Jâ™  10â™  on a 6â™  5♣ 7â™  flop. the flush came with the Aâ™  on the turn, and the Q♥ river brought this week’s long and winding final table to its conclusion.

Ferran789999 and Remi_Lebo10 both walked with nearly the same prize, separated by just over one buy-in after Ferran789999 earned the extra cash left over from the deal. Congratulations to them both for outlasting another tough Super Tuesday final table, and to Ferran789999 for scoring the late comeback victory. It’s the biggest outright win of the Russian player’s career at PokerStars and the biggest cash since finishing third in a SCOOP 2015 Thursday Thrill Special Edition.
