WCOOP 2017: SkaiWalkurrr uses the force to win Turbo Event #76-H ($1,050 NL PKO)

September 24, 2017

Turbo time. The kind of frenetic pace when you run so fast that you’re feet don’t touch the ground. Fitting that someone with a Star Wars-themed screen name inspired by Luke Skywalker would win this event. The U.K.’s SkaiWalkurrr slid into the final table with the chip lead but facing a pair of dangerous Swedish pros in Anton Wigg and Viktor Blom. The future was in SkaiWalkurrr’s hands. He swiftly picked off the Swedes and ascended to the supreme rank of Jedi to join the club of WCOOP champions. SkaiWalkurrr also walked away with a bountiful score: $116,008.79 in regular prize money, plus an additional $94,800 in PKO bounties for a total score worth $210,000.

Isildur1 = 5th place

2017 WCOOP Event #76-H $1,050 NL TURBO 6-Max, Progressive KO attracted 1,522 total entries, with 1,076 original runners and 446 re-entries. They created a total prize pool worth $1,522,000, with half of the pool ($761,000) allocated to bounties and the other half allocated toward the prize pool. Only the top 191 places paid out with $116,008.79 set aside to the champion.

With 25 to go, Isildur1 lurked in the middle of the pack. With 18 to go on the final three tables, Isildur1 shot up into the Top 4 in chips. With 12 left in the hunt, Isilur1 slid into second behind scrubbyz, who led with 15.8M.

With eight remaining, action went hand-for-hand on the final table bubble. Short-stacked quiditbear made a final stand with A♦8♣, but lost to SkaiWalkurrr’s 8♦7♦. SkaiWalkurrr flopped a gutshot draw and got there on the river. Rough. quiditbear bubbled off the final table in eighth place and the turbo final table was set.

Anton ‘antesvante’ Wigg won the Sunday Million in 2009. He banked over $5M on PokerStars, but had never won a COOP title. Also of note… scrubbyz final tabled a SCOOP earlier this year. And, holdplz came close a few times, but never won a COOP. He took second in the Sunday Million back in 2007. In real life, playing as a human named Anthony Spinella, he won a WSOP bracelet in 2015.
