Sunday Million

You get an idea of the level of excitement and competition in the Sunday Million by noting the time the final table report gets published. Straight forward one-two-three events are usually written up when you log in on a Monday morning. The more complex battles featuring familiar names don’t usually appear until you’re on your second cup of coffee.

So as I poured my third cup of coffee this morning the signs were good.

Snapcall419 of Canada would win it , but not until he’d beaten the highly talented Frenchman (boxing out of Malta) Yorane “viirusss” Kerignard into the runner-up spot, albeit after a two-way deal. What’s more in third place was $trateGema from Germany, who happened to finish in the same spot last week. For the record those two pay-outs amount to $166,710.40, more than $30,000 more than either first prize. You lose some; you win some, so to speak.

Anyway, the full report by Kristen Bihr is excellent as always and well worth a few minutes of your morning, even if now overly caffeinated.

Here’s the result in full.

EPT Barcelona… it was the first time that we met

The waiting is finally over and the new season of the European Poker Tour begins this week. As always (well nearly always), Barcelona opens the season, with the festival officially underway at Casino Barcelona tomorrow.

The first major event of the festival though begins on Wednesday, when the Estrellas Main Event gets started. It’s one of those room-strainers, comprising of an enormous field, an equally sizeable prize pool that sets up the season right there and then.

Alongside that will be the first €10K High Roller event of the season, with a €10,000 buy-in. Coverage from both events begins on Wednesday, with live updates from the Super High Roller, the Main Event, the Single Day event and the EPT High Roller set to follow.

You won’t miss any of the action, whether it’s on the PokerStars Blog, or on EPT Live, which will be broadcasting from the festival. For the sake of speediness, bookmark this link so as not to miss anything that goes up on the Blog.

That’s all from another busy weekend on PokerStars. As always send your questions and comments to us on Twitter: @PokerStarsBlog.
