High Rollers series kicks off with $10K event

Reaching the online High Rollers is no easy feat. It can take years to reach such dizzying heights (or a few satellites, which are running now as begin as low as $5.50).

The new High Rollers series caters to anyone with a big enough bankroll, and plenty of willing participants were logged on to PokerStars yesterday to kick the series off with a bang.

The opening event–a $10,300 buy-in NLHE 8-Max–attracted 106 total entries to build a $1,060,000 prize pool, which was to be split between the top 13 players. That’s also when play ended for the night, meaning those 13 will be back in action tonight (Day 2 begins at 6pm GMT, should you wish to rail).

As you’d expect, there are plenty of big names remaining including Mustapha “lasagnaaammm” Kanit, Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford, Samuel “€urop€an” Vousden, Christopher “Apotheosis92” Kruk, Niklas “Lena900” Astedt, and Juan “Malaka$tyle” Pardo.

It’s Cyprus’ “daskalos20” who leads the field though, with a 4,520,153 stack returning to 30K/60K blinds. There is $244,261 awaiting the winner of this one, while all remaining players are currently guaranteed $22,472.

Here is a look at the overnight chip counts.
