After the events in Panama concluded it felt like a quieter week than usual on PokerStars, but there’s still plenty to catch up on, and look forward to, as we detail below…

That was Panama…

There was a new champion for the record books this week in the form of Kenny Samron, who won the first ever PokerStars Championship Panama Main Event and a first prize of $293,860. As our team reported from the side lines it was a final table marked by huge pots, which you can read back on in our coverage archive.

Samron wasn’t the only big winner, with the High Roller event concluding amid familiar scenes. It was there that Steve O’Dwyer was recording his first major win of the year (following his fourth place in the Super High Roller event a few days prior). You can read that story here
(although it’s going to sound like all the others we’ve written about him).

This is Macau…

Even as Panama was wrapping up its Championship we were looking ahead to the next major event on the schedule, the PokerStars Championship Macau, which is now only a week away.

It all happens at the City of Dreams in Macau, from 30 March to 9 April, with the PokerStars Blog on hand to report form the biggest events on the schedule, with results for everything else. You can read more about it here, as well as a guide to Macau here.

New Jersey anniversary

It’s the time of year for PokerStars anniversaries. Last weekend it was the sixth for the Sunday Storm, and next week it’s the 11th for the Sunday Million. This week though was also the first for PokerStars New Jersey. Twelve months ago PokerStars opened its doors in the United States after an absence of, well, too long. In what was the first tentative step on a long road, online poker was back to American players, starting in New Jersey. As we wrote, a lot has happened in that time, and there’s plenty more to come.

Quite the home game

If you’re an international soccer star planning a home game, you might as well make it a celebrity one, and while you’re at it raise some money for a couple of great causes. That was the plan this week when Neymar Jr hosted a game at Casino Barcelona, where the likes of Fatima Moreira de Melo, Andre Akkari, Brazilian actor Rafael Zulu, pro surfer Pedro Scooby, and Neymar Jr himself played some cards in aid of both Neymar Jr’s own charity the Neymar Jr Institute, and children’s charity Right To Play.

Sunday Million anniversary

The Sunday Million celebrates its 11th anniversary in just over a week. On Sunday April 2, online poker’s most prestigious weekly tournament will feature a $10 million guarantee, with $1 million of that for the winner. What’s more we’re giving players twelves routes to win that million, with options available to players of any bankroll. That means direct buy-ins, satellites from a dollar, Spin & Go’s and more.

That’s it for another week on PokerStars. Send your comments to us on Twitter:
