Tonkaaaa’s $168k Titans takedown

We have a second feature table for this week’s results, the KO Week 73: $5k Titans PKO special edition. The tournament attracted 119 entries for a prize pool of $595,000.

By the end of Day 1, PokerStars ambassador Parker “tonkaaaa” Talbot held the chip lead. As long as he got out of bed on time, everything looked set for him to take down the event.

Tonkaaaa got off to a flying start. With seven players left, the Canadian pro knocked out “kylix42” of Brazil. Aside from second place “lissi stinkt”, all other players hovered close to the danger zone.

Tonkaaaa utilized this situation by applying consistent pressure to the shorter stack, soon busting Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford in sixth.

“cocojamb0” got on the right side of the aggression, their Kings holding against tonkaaaa for the double up. Then, cocojamb0 wiped out both “wizowizo” and “pvigar” in a single hand to earn a double bounty and soar to second place in chips with just three players remaining.

Tonkaaaa continued to chip up with pre-flop aggression, but not without due resistance from lissi stinkt.

The game changing moment came when cocojamb0 got their pocket nines in against lissi stinkt’s deuces. A deuce on the river gave lissi trips and left cocojamb0 with just a few big blinds and little chance of making a comeback.

We were soon heads-up.

And it was a close battle. The experienced lissi stinkt wasn’t going to lay down without a fight. A hero call against lissi’s bluff changed the dynamic and put tonkaaaa well out in front, giving him enough of a lead to keep pushing for the win.

Lissi stinkt came second in the PKO $5k Titans for a total of $77,552.

Parker “tonkaaaa” Talbot finished first, earning a total prize of $168,958 ($111k coming from bounties).

KO Week Sunday Million results

This weekend’s Sunday Million was a big one, helped along by a $215 price tag and the special edition PKO format for KO Week. 7,753 entries made for an epic prize pool of $1,550,600.

This meant the top two prizes were set at over $93k. Along with bounties, first place was looking at far more than is typical for the Millie.

With 65 players remaining, “OviPokerKid” of Romania had the chip lead and had at that point earned the most bounties.

An hour into Day 2, nearly half the field had already been eliminated. “Ostlyngen193” of Norway had taken a huge chip lead, while OviPokerKid had whittled down to a short stack and soon crashed out in 27th. Ostlyngen193 still had the chip lead with 24 players left and with 16 players left.

But something was about to change. “SharkModeOn” of Uruguay, on a mission for bounties, eliminated two players in quick succession. Now sitting on a huge stack and holding Pocket Aces, SharkModeOn confronted Ostlyngen193, all but wiping out the player who looked favorite to win just a moment ago.

By the time play reached the final table, SharkModeOn had a 3-1 chip lead over second place “xXROMmMEOXx”.

“Pjim85”, meanwhile, had less than five big blinds, and was first to be eliminated from the final table, out in ninth place. “leoduarte” of Brazil was next to go in seventh, followed by “Greedyim” in sixth place.

“leostar121” of Brazil gained momentum, as did “stan_09319” of Romania, who managed to double up through SharkModeOn. After shoving five big blinds and missing, “Kot_Spartac” of Mexico was next to go, finishing in fifth place.

With four players left, stacks were close and the PKO Sunday Million was still anyone’s for the taking. That is, until SharkModeOn once again took the lead, knocking out xXROMmMEOXx in fourth place then stan_09319 in third.

At one point, leostar21 impressed with a three-barrel bluff against SharkModeOn to take the chip lead. When SharkModeOn returned fire later on, their own bluff was met by leostar21’s flush.

leostar21 continued to pull away during the heads-up match. The final hand was a simple shove call, leostar21’s Q 3 holding against SharkModeOn’s J 2.

SharkModeOn came second for a total of $109,441.

leostar21 won the PKO Sunday Million for a total of $142,861.
