Sunday Million state of play

The $109 Sunday Million took a PKO format this week. With 9,617 entries, the event had a $1 million prize pool.

“giannisLg” of the UK has the chip lead when play went on break at the end of Day 1. Unusually, that’s how it stayed for most of Day 2. giannisLG played solid and aggressive poker, only occasionally losing the lead and then building it back up again.

“Lui$starPRO$” was one of the players who did manage to overtake giannisLG, starting the final table with a significant lead before later struggling to hold on to it.

Play on the final table was relatively deep with even shorter stacks holding over 20 big blinds. After a tense first hour, several players busted, including Lui$starPRO$.

By this point, “koenn8” had taken the chip lead and was returning fire against giannisLG, at one point catching out their rival’s bluff for a huge pot.

“11coconuts” shoved their final five big blinds into the middle and was busted in third.

After that it was a very quick end to the final table. koenn8 busted “Korn2005” in third to kick off the heads-up with a 2-1 chip lead. A few hands later it was all over.

giannisLG, after maintaining a decent stack all the way from the start of Day 1, finished second for a total of $57,000.

koenn8 is this week’s Sunday Million champion, earning a total of $70,482 for first place.

High Roller Club highlights

Sam “SamSquid” Grafton had an excellent run in the High Roller Club this weekend. The PokerStars ambassador denied Niklas “Lena900” Astedt heads-up to claim first place in the $1,050 Sunday Warm-Up, earning $15,384.

In the $5k Titans, Jon “apestyles” Van Fleet held the chip lead at the end of Day 1. However, it was “ramastar88” who eventually claimed the top spot and $128,223 prize money.

Sunday Majors and MicroMillions

The MicroMillions Marathon reached its finale this weekend with the $22 PKO Main Event. The event crushed its guarantee, with 25,625 entries making for a prize pool of $512,000.

That meant huge prizes for anyone who reached the final table, especially considering the humble $22 buy-in. “F.mca777” of Germany came second for a total of $24,385. “retro_cheetah01” of Poland topped the gigantic field to claim first place and $34,415.

Sunday Major highlights include:
