Next month, I’ll be making my fifth trip to the Bahamas for the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. At this point, it’s hard to imagine January without it. While most of the world is covered with snow, it’s a perfect 25 degrees Celsius on Paradise Island. The Atlantis Resort is fantastic and there is so much to do there when you’re away from the poker table. There are four hotel towers inside the resort, including the luxurious Cove, which has apartment-style suites with incredible views of the sea. It’s lovely and very private, but the only drawback is it’s a bit far from the poker room. If you want to be closer to the action, I’d recommend booking a room in the Royal Tower or my favorite, the Coral Tower. The beach is only a short walk away and it’s great to be able to start the day with a walk or run on the white sand.

There’s no better place to enjoy the sun than by one of the swimming pools. The Atlantis has pools for adults, pools for kids, pools where you can swim with dolphins, and a variety of water slides. The biggest one is called the Abyss and it begins with a fifty-foot drop in complete darkness before you splash down into a lagoon. There are also dozens of aquariums and ponds around the resort containing over 100,000 fish–hundreds of species from the tiniest guppies to giant sharks. While I enjoy watching the fish, I really love catching them and there are plenty of opportunities for fishing excursions off the island.

For those of you who like golf, Atlantis has a gorgeous 18-hole course with incredible blue-water views from every green. The course is impeccably maintained and each hole has five different tees to play from. I think every golfer should have the experience of playing a round at Atlantis. I also encourage everyone to explore the town of Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas. It’s definitely worth it to walk there and see the architecture and meet local people.

And of course, there’s poker. This year, the PCA Main Event has a $10 million guarantee with over $2 million going to the winner, not to mention dozens of side events. If you get yourself to Atlantis, not only can you have all the fun of a Caribbean vacation, but you can become a millionaire in the process! If you have kids, no problem. I brought my family with me three of the four times I’ve been to the PCA and they absolutely loved it.

Satellites are still running for the PCA and I urge you all to try and win your way in. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first visit or if you’ve been there many times, the PCA is an unforgettable experience and I can’t wait to go back.
